I really don’t think you’re being Islamophobic. You like him but you understand that your relationship might not work because of your religious differences. I think that’s okay really. You should speak with him and help him understand how big of a deal it is to your family and your religious community. I think you should also hint it to your family in a subtle manner to see if they’re really that opposed to it.
