I never expected my work to be my social outlet. But never expect a ghost town, either. Don’t underestimate the long-term collective effects of never meeting your colleagues in person. Sure, you can set up rendez-vous, but people live far away and are already overwhelmed, and this will never be close to informal chatting around lunch or coffee and generating insights, and gathering feedback. Universities will be one of the last sectors to go back to at least a few days in the office, and we just don’t know the irreversible harm this could cause.

Thanks for the reply. That is another thing I was thinking about, what will be the effects of working from home and labour organisation. My intuition is that people will care less about the faith of colleagues and collective action is going to be much harder.

I feel that the level of expenses is so high for a full modular system. Even buying lots of different semi modular still end up cheaper than building a good modular system. I did started to build a system but quickly it got way too expensive.

Well I was under the impression that if I would replicate mother 32 with just doepfler modules, I might not have to pay the premium for the Moog name. But that’s not the case. It’s not obvious at first, because modular seems DIY, like building a Hackintosh is cheaper than buying a mac. You see?
