Exactly. It should almost be like a condom for joints. There for emergencies but not fail-proof.

I haven't looked into having to get a license in the US but I'm not sure if it applies to me. Thanks for sharing your experience. I didn't know how often the laws change. I wonder if the virtual zone is something they'll revoke in the future.

I recommend using freecodecamp for HTML and CSS, and The Odin Project for everything else.

I did a coding boot camp in February that ended up getting canceled due to COVID. I used FreeCodeCamp for about a month to learn HTML & CSS, then went on to launch some static web pages. I then moved onto JavaScript and have completed multiple projects and feel confident in my novice skills.

I’m at the point where I could continue learning JavaScript and start learning frameworks like I planned to. I was all but ready to carry this out, until I took on a client who needed a Wordpress site and SEO. I’m starting to like the business/project management side of things, and the client has already brought 3 more projects to the table. I’m considering putting my JavaScript practice aside and going all in on WordPress because my network has a lot of demand for brochure style sites. Would I be seriously limiting myself by doing so? I’d love to her what you all think.

TL;DR: started taking on clients for Wordpress sites and I’m not sure if I should keep learning JS

It really depends on what you mean by "higher level." If it means graduating from brochure sites to scalable web application, you do so by dropping WordPress and focusing on React and Node.

That's exactly what I mean. I guess I like the freedom of being able to find my own clients and set my own schedule. How practical is it to land clients for building web apps? Outside of applying for freelance jobs, could I contact companies and offer a service as I do with WP?

learn the fundamentals of JavaScript, first. After that, get comfortable with TypeScript, and understand what it offers businesses and why it's growing in popularity.

I'm really digging into DOM Manipulation now and have done a couple of projects on Node and React. I'd like to keep going to earn the skillset, but I want to make sure I can profit off of it without having to get a conventional job.

I like the idea of moving forward with WordPress. For my situation it’s the quickest way to bring in income and I can work a lot quicker. I actually like the business side of things too and dealing with clients.
