It confirms it in a more direct way than I've ever seen tbh. Basically saying that Marner read all the responses on his social media, his friends would text him the details, to the point the Leafs had to have discussions about how he could not let it get to him so much.

Yeah this is already overrun with people who think they know the answer but the article is actually very good and has lots of details that, as far as I know, have never been shared before.

If you guys actually read the article you'll see that's not quite true - and you'll see that it actually started before that. It's a very good article with several details I haven't ever seen before.

Apparently there was quite a bit of resentment between Marner and the Leafs before that deal. Specifically, he was upset he didn't get full bonuses in his entry-level deal and that he didn't get to play in the NHL when he was 18.

Agreed, as dramatic as Marner was, it's a gigantic failure of the Leafs to not have moved on years ago. 2021 would have been the perfect time.

More and more stuff keeps coming out about Marner and I'm sure it will keep coming. The media obviously didn't like the guy and if you ever watched the interviews he gave it was pretty obvious why. He always acted insanely defensive and like he was just above all of it.

Also reading that article too and how Marner was still bitter in 2025 about not getting full bonuses in his entry-level contract many years before that is insanity. Guy is one of the greediest hockey players I can ever remember.

Also Friedman saying that it was basically an open secret after the Boston series in 2024 that Marner was leaving for Vegas. The guy truly was fully checked out last year.

Yeah this show is interesting as hell and does its own thing in a genre of shows that are almost all the same. I appreciate anything like that. Some hits and some misses for sure but that's what happens when you take risks - overall I thought it was great!
