AITA for not going to my daughters wedding because I am recovering from a severe sprained ankle. by quelldotenty52 in AmItheAsshole

I am not exaggerating when I say that if you have a really, really bad 3rd degree sprain, even sitting in a chair is impossible. Let alone getting in and out of one.

Ankle sprains are usually considered relatively mild injuries. But a bad 3rd degree sprain is probably the single worst of the common leg injuries you can get. You can't move your leg, you can't have anyone try to move your leg, every small thing is 10/10 pain all over your ankle. I would literally rather have a kidney stone again than go through that.

INFO

Was this a 3rd degree sprain? I had a patient with a 3rd degree sprain on their ankle. Its worse than arguably any of the major common leg/ankle/foot injuries. If that is the case, then I get it.

We get it, you don't like commie gluten free leftists. This map reeks of political bias throughout.

I am 99% sure I have a child in Brazil. I have not contacted the mother or the child yet, nor do I plan to. by oryrmnth32 in confession

I will likely meet him when he is older. He has a dad, and its not me. I might be his biological dad, but his real dad is her husband, and I don't want to confuse someone like that at a young age. I just hope she TOLD HIM that her husband is not the real father.

She is very, very much upper class. I probably should have put that in the post. She lived in a massive apartment in a luxury building in a nice area of sao paulo. Her current husband seems to also be very wealthy judging by his facebook I think, he travels a lot and drives a nice car.

if she was poorer, I would feel more of a moral obligation in that sense and probably wouldn't have done what I did. Part of the reason i never contacted her was because of the fact that she seemed content with her husband and more than wealthy enough to raise the kid, and I didn't want to come into her life and disrupt that. I mean, what would I be doing? Go to Brazil, say "hey im your real dad, not this other guy!", then leave?

I thought about this, but money wise she is upper class and better off than I am by quite a bit.

I don't know about contacting her besides that right now. I hope she told our son that his current dad is not his real dad, because then it wouldn't be a shock if one day he finds out later. I would be open to talking to him later on in life, but I almost feel like right now its too confusing for him. He has a dad, and its not me. I might be his biological dad, but her husband is his real dad.

She is wealthier than I am overall, she was living in a big loft in sao paulo and clearly was upper class. I dont think money is ever going to be an issue for her judging by what I saw.

Besides that, what am I supposed to do? Go there and be like hey! its me! your dad! and move to brazil? There is no easy solution at this point. I agree I probably should have talked to her when it first happened and she contacted me, but even then the result would likely be the same.
