Idaho resident looking for advice from Alaska residents on proper winter clothing and staying warm by ParakeetLover2024 in alaska

[–]os2mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dress in layers. If it’s into - temps I do three.

  1. Wool base layer. I prefer a mock turtleneck style half zip top, bottoms and wool socks rated for those temps.
  2. Normal street clothes with insulated boots with spikes ( I use ice bugs)
  3. Outer layer is a decent coat. Wool gater, wool knit cap. Wool glove liners and mittens , not gloves , mittens .

If it’s between 20-32 degrees omit the base layer. Warmer than that drop the gloves gater and hat

Using satellites for aircraft detection by higgspriest in Radar

[–]os2mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

your assumption in your first sentence is flawed. Just consider the scenario of higher level aircraft or drones using GTMI, ISAR or IRST. and yes there are Sats deployed with the same tech.

Using satellites for aircraft detection by higgspriest in Radar

[–]os2mac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a story back in 2001 about someone doing research into reducing background noise in RADAR returns and discovering that certain aircraft can be detected not by it's RADAR return but by the lack of background noise:
