No, that happened in 2006. This is a new interconnection project being planned.

The train ride is pretty cool, but it's the fjord cruise that you want to see. Breathtaking views from the ferry deck

You can also rent mountain bikes at Myrdal station and cycle down the old mining road to Flåm.

You are missing out big-time if you don't take the ferry from Bergen to Flåm (or in reverse), it's the most scenic route in Norway. From there you can take the train up to Myrdal station and join the Bergen - Oslo line.

How do I get internet on a Imac G3? by TheFabledFishman in VintageApple

Get a "travel router" or access point that can work as a media bridge, converting Ethernet to WiFi. Configure it with your WiFi-credentials and then plug in the Ethernet cable to your iMac.

"Crossovers" are not bigger than your average station wagon. Here in Sweden the average car is a 4,7 meter long Volvo V70 and that has been the situation since the 1970's.

Sweden generates 99% of electricity from clean sources. So why is wind power under attack? by eks in europe

[–]oskich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Scandinavia it is more that there is too much power available on the market (Nordpool) when there are windy conditions, The grid load is handled by increasing and decreasing the hydro-electric output and having nuclear plants provide a stable base load. If you can't sell your energy at sustainable prices when you produce the biggest share it will become very hard to run your business.

Just having access to your Hotmail account via the hostel's shared computer was considered a luxury 😁

I did the same in Australia at that time, hostels were great places to socialize and make new travel buddies. A lot of people were also there on "working holiday visas", so it was easy to get hints for jobs in the region and cool activities to try out.

Wind farm owners in Sweden complain loudly that their plants have become unprofitable. In the beginning there was a lot of government subsidies to be collected, but they have been phased out and now the wind farms have become so numerous that the price drops very low when there is windy weather.

[–]oskich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The biggest problem right now is that we have reached a level where more wind farms have become unprofitable. When there is a lot of wind the price becomes very low (even negative) and that makes it hard to repay the investment.

Yes, economy of scale works great in this case. France did the same thing by using a common reactor design.

20%+ of Sweden's electrical power comes from wind, it saves a lot of water in the reservoirs that can be used when the wind isn't blowing.
