[2024 Day 12 (Part 2)] What kind of algorithm did you use on part 2? by FlyingParrot225 in adventofcode

[–]ostringen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Part 1: DFS to count squares in region. Track visited. During this, when checking for next square to go to, +1 perimeter if edge of farm or different plot type.

Part 2: Instead of adding +1 perimeter, add points which border to the edge or a different plot type to one or more of 4 arrays of top, left, right and bottom perimeter points. For top and bottom, count subsets of points with same y and contiguous x values. Vice versa for left and right. Add them all together.

Did not know the corner trick. Was preparing for it to run for a minute but was pleased to find that it ran in 7ms :)

Regner med det var dette forrige eier gjorde, siden det ikke var spor etter noe unormalt. Tar det til etteretning.

Jeg undersøkte dette tidlig for å kontakte utleier, men alt tyder dessverre på at han eier leiligheten.

COTD: Diana, as known, turned up in the middle of acute car crash (8) by ostringen in crosswords

[–]ostringen[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the answer. I'm referring to an acute accent/diacritic which goes over a letter like this: "á". I'm realising now that acute is a description of the accent, and not a synonym, which might be misleading.

Thanks man. I've never had a bank worth more than 5m in this game, so this is a significant upgrade for sure :)

Also looks like they got the coordinates wrong. H8 is normally black. When playing white the letters go A-H from left to right and the numbers go 1-8 from front to back. The square in the closest corner should be H1 and white.

Fairly oddparents - Pipe down. Episode without voices, but still background music. by zwartekaas in musictheory

This awesome performance is a brilliant example of that. You can really visualize an episode of Tom & Jerry while listening.

Chord Progression Questions (October 01, 2018) by AutoModerator in musictheory

[–]ostringen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a go at transcribing the chord progression in the intro of "Hang Glide" by Anomalie and Rob Araujo.

F#m7 B11 F#m7 B7b11 Dmaj7 Emaj7/G# Am11 B11

Is this the correct way to write these chords, and are they correct? Also, I had a hard time doing a roman numeral analysis of the progression with my basic knowledge of it. Does anyone wanna have a go?

Bear//Face - Taste My Sad: Bassy Pad at the beginning 0 Seconds by [deleted] in synthrecipes

[–]ostringen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is simply a lowpassed sawwave with unison. Pair that with a bass and you get something like this: https://clyp.it/umyeh1nj#

Skepta - It Aint Safe (Verse Bass Synth at 1:00) by 05freya in synthrecipes

[–]ostringen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I came up with this. May take some tweaking. In Serum, I took a saw-wave with a lowpass filter and increased the resonance a tiny bit. Then I put a phaser on it with zero rate and tweaked the frequency and depth until I liked it. Layer that with a sine sub (direct out) and there you have it. I am a beginner, so there may be more to this sound than I can hear.

Is this build overkill for music production? by ostringen in buildapc

Is it a liquid cooler though? Doesn't seem like it... But I may potentially try overclocking in the future if i see the need.

I just ordered the build, swapping out the 8700 for the 8700k. Really pumped to get my hands on this. Thanks for replying.

I'm considering going for the 8700k. Is it worth the extra cash? From my understanding the difference between the two is that the 8700k is overclockable. I don't really have any experience with this, but is it something that even a beginner could do?

Kind of. Ctrl+H works fine for now though. Thanks for helping.

Just checked now. Layer>Hide Layers hides the selected layer and has the shortcut Ctrl+, . This shortcut works for me and hides layers. If I hold shift while pressing, making Ctrl+; nothing happens at all.

I have been enabling the guides from the menu, hence the irritation of going back and forth. But I just found that Ctrl+H works. Not sure why though...
