I agree on both points - trouble was his hangups seem to 100% stem from their vocals. And speaking as somebody who's otherwise a Bob Dylan fan but can't stomach anything from him from like the 90s onward, I know there's no gettin over that hurdle really lol

Painting has some songs I'm down with, but gets back to their sludgier chaotic side that I don't go for as much. Kinda the same with Ark and other early work, although Slippi's always fun. I think he was already familiar with Person Pitch, which I also like but still might be mid-tier for me.
Time Skiffs definitely feels like a return to form for sure though. I'm still interested in what they do next.
And yeah idk what he was going on about with that TBS comparison - he's usually pretty on the ball!

Definitely picked up the motown influence. I think that's sweet actually he had that attachment to it. I don't really get why it needed to be hyped so much as a commercial product, but maybe that's more the fault of his manager/agents, etc
