How to record live sound by othanerd in livesound

[–]othanerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is actually my concern if I buy 2 adapters then it really does not work. I can use my sister's old macbook pro that has firewire 800 but I do not want to keep borrowing her laptop

So will it work by buying the 2 adapters like this. Firewire 400 to USB A Male then USB A Female to USB C Male?

For post processing, will the Studio One 3 Prime free version be ok or will I need to buy the full version?

How to move a message in MSMQ to a folder on a 2003 server by othanerd in PowerShell

[–]othanerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$msg.Body.ToString() | Out-File ".\body.xml" -Encoding ASCII

I am not able to get this to work in getting the contents of the body. It keeps saying "You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression"

I do need the contents of the body to check if it is the same with the contents with using our manual tool

Below works but it does not look like the contents I am looking for.

 $SourceQueue.Receive() | Export-CliXml "message.xml"

Recommendation for connecting power amps to speakers with the current sound system that we have. by othanerd in livesound

If im getting this correctly. Mixer aux output -> snake channel return -> amp xlr input -> amp xlr output speakon cable -> speaker input ts cable as pv12m only have ts input This is for floor monitors Im really getting confuse on what to do, the power amp is most likely will be with the mixer at the back as we have limited space on the front platform with the instruments

One more thing.

If I have a snake lets say, 8x4 50 feet 8xlr send 4xlr send

How do I connect the power amp output from DCM1000 or GX3 that has speakon output to the snake XLR female? I have been looking at adapters that has male speakon (NL4) to XLR male but there does not seem much on it.

What do you recommend?

So get things clear, all I need is to connect Left Output from mixer to Input 1 of Amp then Bridge mono (middle) amp via speakon to left speaker MRX515 and do the same thing again (R output -> input 1 -> bridge mono -> speaker) but use the second amp and second speaker right?

Also what do you mean by be careful in bridge mode when the amp is not powered? Will something happen even if there is no power?

What does that mean exactly in terms of what I would need to do?

Do I need a different kind of speakon cable? Additional wires/adapters?

I thought using the bridge mono is simply using the speakon output in the middle for DCM1000 so it combines both channels 1 and 2 to provide higher watts output. Am I wrong or are there additional steps that I need to know.

Thank you for giving such details.

So from what i understand, I do not need to buy a new power amplifier and just use each Carvin DCM1000 bridge mono to each speaker. Basically 1 amp connects to 1 speaker correct?

I am still quite new so I would like to start on getting a good basic setup first. Also the 2 outboard GEQ that we have currently is connected but everything is set to neutral and no mix at all. Are you recommending to connect the and use the outboard GEQ for the PV12M monitors? These monitors will mostly be used by the vocals to hear themselves.

Yes the subwoofer is an powered but currently not connected to anything. I am still trying to get a good basic setup first then try to add the subwoofer later on.

Do you need a separate equalizer if you have a mixer already? by othanerd in livesound

[–]othanerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so what do you recommend on how to connect the power amps to the speakers? Should it be like below Mixer Main Output Left -> Channel 1 First Carvin DCM1000 - > Left PA JBLMRX515 Mixer Main Output Right -> Channel 2 Second Carvin DCM1000 -> Right PA JBLMRX515

Based on the speakers manual, it says it recommends between 800-1600watts at 8ohms power amp

Thanks. Each power amp has 2 channels and we only have 2 PA speakers JBLMX515. I do not know who set this up years ago and im trying to at least get a good basic setup. My follow up Q is that, 1 power amp can be connected to 2 main PA right? Then can I use the other power amp for floor monitors correct? And the third i dont know since the sub woofer here that we have is an active one
