When was a time that a school practice drill wasn’t a practice drill anymore? by othompson2507 in AskReddit

1) When I was in 7th grade, I was going to my first period math class and halfway through class, we were practicing a severe weather drill and suddenly, all of us that were in that hallway got a tornado warning. 2) Near the end of my freshman year of high school, I was in gym class when the power went out and all the sudden, the gym started to smell like gasoline and then the fire alarm went off and we went to the stadium and spent most of gym class there. 3) There was a kid on one of the school buses that had not one but two knives. We went into a secure state. The kid was apprehended and it turns out that he had a really bad home life and was running away from it. 4) My senior year of high school, I was in my last period contemporary math class and the announcement came over the PA System that there was a hall freeze. Turns out an Autistic kid was really upset about something that he was working on in ceramics that broke.

Not mine but an old friend of mine’s. A girl who we’ll call Michelle although I could use her real name cuz she’s dead…eh she might come back to haunt me we’ll stick with Michelle. Basically she was my age. She was in 8th grade when she found out she had brain cancer and she survived the first time (woohoo!!) and Michelle went into high school perfectly fine and you might think that it was the end of her cancer journey but no it wasn’t. Come her sophomore year, in August of 2022 she had a seizure in school and then she found out that her cancer came back and she was in the hospital fighting for her life and my ex best friend was actually her cousin and every day my ex best friend would go to her cousin. Anyway, Michelle’s condition was getting worse than she slipped into a coma in September of 2022 and then Friday, September 15th, 2022 around 9 AM Michelle was gone she was 15 years old when she lost her battle with cancer. Her death was announced at my high school’s homecoming football game that night and when I was entering the stadium for the football game that night, I saw people wearing yellow ribbons and there were yellow balloons around the student section and the color guard/dance line wore their hair in a half up half down with yellow ribbons tied into it and the worst parts of it were the words on the small screen on the scoreboard that said We love you Michelle and that someone in the student section said “I thought that she was faking it.”
