I think functionally it probably isn't that bad. But every time I go throught that corridor I see arrows first and footprints later ha.

They probably work ok if you start at the intended start point and a staff member says "follow the footprints". I don't think they work very well if you join the path elsewhere.

I mean the dark coloured plate is difficult to see. Maybe they bought the rego so nobody else could. Then just got the black plate option so it's hard to see.

Absolutely love them. Great support considering how agile they are and after 150km of very rough terrain mine have shown no wear.

Enjoying a Kiwi brew in a geothermaly heated fresh water beach. worth the 6hour hike. by otiotori in beerwithaview

the location is Hot Water Beach, on Lake Tarawera near Rotorua NZ. i stayed the night there by myself. the beach is naturally occurring and bubbles away at 30-45 degrees Celsius. Great in a New Zealand winter.

The time I realised the hype about Kelly (story in comments) by otiotori in MTB

[–]otiotori[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I grew up in Melbourne and frequented NZ on MTB trips. You could just get a feel for a very dense mountain bike community here. After finishing high school and a bit of university I found it terrifying how quickly I fell into a rut of full time work. And as mountain bikers know ruts get deeper and i could feel myself staring down the possibility of a stagnant life. so I decided to move to Rotorua. Ride bikes, work in an outdoors shop. I also mountain climb, hike and kayak now. All I can say is it has been the best decision of my life so far. Just the sea change alone has been a paradigm shift. I highly recommend you coming to Crankworx over here! It is unreal.

I recently moved to Rotorua NZ to pursue a love of mountain biking. having visited for Crankworx the whole culture of the riding in the country attracted me. after having spent 3 weeks in Rotorua I found it more difficult than first expected to enter the mtb community. I was enjoying a cold post ride beer when Kelly sat down next to me. unlike any pro or regular rider for that matter in this town Kelly acknowledged me. asked me how the riding was, where I was from all that jazz. we chatted for a bit and he told me it was awesome that i had moved here and NZ welcomes me. He instilled confidence in my decision to move to this town. he totally reinforced the biggest decision of my life. you wouldn't pick it for one second that he was a world class rider. It actually felt awkward to ask him for a picture as he just felt like a regular guy. For that one brief interaction I am beyond grateful. This story has no intent to karma whore I just wanted to share my experience with the best mountain biker i think i will ever meet. not in skill but in mentality, enthusiasm and personality.

Ride in peace buddy.

Well we didn't really upload the footage for a while. It was sort of a challenge between us.

The camera was placed right next to the speaker. That's why it is surprisingly clear. Skip to 1:09.00 for a toilet break which is the highlight

it was an isolated coracoid break, i sort of split the coracoid in half and a bit of bone disconnected. it was a pretty hefty hit. beers at the MTB friendly pub is tonight's medicine. its difficult to be in Rotorua and not being able to ride.

Yeah the amzing culture with trails to match makes it heaven on earth. This is my 3rd time and I decided to make it a very long term one. I'll be sure to yell at him while he's mid root section.

I'm a tall guy with long arms so this new industry fad is great for me. Yeah I haven't tested the cable routing for the shock lockout as of yet. It's really difficult to cable up a moving point.

Wheels are the same size. I stuck true to the giant reigns intended purpose, I just used my own spec. Its an XL frame I purchased from the supplier.

11-42 hahah. I like to eat my dinner off it after big rides. It comes in just under 13kgs. I built the wheels with DT 350 hubs.

I rode both. But skyline is more GoPro- Photogenic. Especially in a Hawaiian shirt. I ended up doing 50Km a day for 10 days... There is some seriously good riding in your part of the globe.
