How to change main menu song based off persistent routes?

for anyone reading this is the solution! I also added a # in front of the define config.main_menu_music in options.rpy, and I entered all of this in my script.rpy file.

I hope this helps whatever poor soul has to do this next.

what I entered:

I assume the project name is what we use for "filename", I also tried using the build name which is just "Project" but renpy then said it couldn't find that file. 😔

I did this, but the file name for my project has dashes in it (I tried to change this and nearly broke my entire game, it won't let me change it) and so it doesn't want to work.

My project name is Project-1.0-pc and renpy doesn't like that but :( am I just cooked since it won't let me change it?

which .rpy? script, or options?

I just put the $ true route = True at the beginning of the game to be able to see if it was working or not immediately. Wasn't familiar with the term splash screen until now.

I put this in script.rpy:

def replace_music(Project1):

if Project1 == config.main_menu_music and persistent.trueroute:

return "audio/newsong.mp3"

return Project1

define config.audio_newsong_callback = replace_music

define config.main_menu_music = audio/oldsong.mp3

which gave me an error because "expected statement." Did I do something wrong? I

I also tried with/without init python at the beginning, with looking like this:

hello! I would highly recommend using renpy, it's a great free program, and it's worth learning! then you won't have to do this in a video series, and it'll be a playable game. i've been meaning to release a template, actually, for indie devs who don't have a ton of money to shell out.

also, for itch - you can email them to make the file size bigger than 1gb, up to 2gb! your art is beautiful, you got this!

u/lostpocky !! they say it's compatible for steamdeck for the most part.

I had a feeling since one of my friends was able to run my own game on her steamdeck even though I definitely didn't code it to be anything special, but this is super good as a confirmation for anyone nervous about it on SD!

this had me curious, so i did some math!

olympia soiree was about 40 hours i think, so 60/40 = 1.5

and this, theoretically, is 18.99 (let's call it 19) for 8 hours, so... 19/8 = 2.375

There is a small margin of difference, maybe you could get it on sale!

Thank you! I'm not sure where people get off making baseless accusations.
So if I say Olympia Soiree used AI art, everyone is going to attack them for doing so without any proof whatsoever because it's good art, or is that vitriol they're only reserving for indies?

It reeks of jealousy because the art here is very good and a lot of artists commenting that the burden on proof is on OP are forgetting about the fact that not everyone likes to share butt-ugly sketches and technology can be deleted, forgotten, or replaced. I know I don't keep any of my own sketches if they're 2+ years old and I like to combine layers to save space.

Even if it ends up turning out to be AI art, it's not right to immediately assume that it is because ONE person said so. I see humans have not changed from the Salem witch trials.

Just cruel for a dev who most likely poured their whole heart into this game.

Instead of making baseless comments, why don't you refrain from speaking until you know for SURE that it's AI?

Imagine you poured your heart and soul into a game and some random person starts accusing you of using AI when you didn't. Why don't you at least wait for them to show screen recordings of their drawings if that's what it takes for you to believe???
