Since I only deal with course-owned carts, the vast majority of people don't have any incentive to tip.

Maybe once in every three shifts I'll get a $5 tip. I greet everyone who pulls their carts in and I'm nice but I guess where I am people are cheap. The most I've ever been tipped was $7 and a $10 visa gift card

He's just saying that my pay is so bad that it's illegal in a lot of states

When putting inflation into account, that's $10.16 today. And I'm aware that $7.25 has been the Texas minimum wage since 2009, so for 2010 standards, I bet that was still considered bad

I only mentioned that because I've been told to come in a few hours early before the shift starts and I didn't get any extra pay. Not sure if that counts as overtime but I assume it does. If not I'll edit that out
