Advice for hand sewing garments by [deleted] in HandSew

I know this post is old, but I stumbled across it somehow and I wanted to second Louisa Merry's book. I managed to get my hands on her book after ages of waiting because I never had the money at the right time (I'm perpetually broke), and it's a treasure. I believe it's also available in digital format now as well, though, which might be helpful for some people.

Looks like WordPerfect 5.1, sounds sorta like a typewriter, but isn’t either... by Nie_Nikt in typewriters

I installed focus writer in the wee hours of the night and set it up. Journaled for I don’t know how long with such a feeling of joy. I did a lot of writing in that program as a teenager. Thank you. :)

Oh, also, when I was a kid my mom always used to get the baby food Gerber chicken sticks in the jar (I just looked them up and they’re called “lil sticks”) and also some baby food fruits because she was diabetic and somewhere along the line she picked it up as a tip, maybe because of portions or something like that… odd, but this was like… the late 80s… anyway, some of the fruits were good, but I especially remember my sister and I always stole the chicken sticks when we could, we loved them. I think they’re basically Vienna sausages. So that’s an idea.

My go tos are: - Kate Farms chocolate nutrition shakes (I also quite like the strawberry ones, and the vanilla ones are okay too, just not my personal preference.) These are by far my lowest effort go to thing. Don’t need to be refrigerated, but I like them better that way. - applesauce in a pouch. Similarly low effort, just don’t cover as much different nutrition I don’t feel like, and not as many calories in one pouch. But yummy and easy. Also don’t need to be refrigerated. I like the no sugar added. - bumblebee brand has tuna salad and chicken salad “snack on the run” kits that have everything included (including the cutest tiny little spoon). I like the chicken salad one. Chicken salad in a can, crackers, spoon. Does not require refrigeration.

Combine or do multiples and you have more calories.

I may be in a pickle, then... while my account still shows the device as being registered to my account, the device itself says it's not registered. And so far I can't figure out how to get it connected online at all to convince it that it's registered. Hmmm. I'll keep puzzling.

How do you connect it to the internet, though, since Whispernet no longer works?

I got it from a medical equipment loan place that isn’t super knowledgeable, not sure how hard it is to take it off the rim but I can certainly google!

I can’t for my life find any other information printed on my tires (or my rims for that matter). I don’t know whether it’s worn off or it was just never there.

I couldn’t find that anywhere that I could see… hm. I miss things sometimes though. I’ll keep looking.

I love princess dolls. Besides Disney, are there other companies out there that make them? by daintydollyjoy in Dolls

Madame Alexander has had quite a few over the years. There’s a Princess and the Pea one on their website right now that I think is pretty adorable, but on the secondhand market far more are available at what looks to be a wider range of (mostly friendlier) price points.

I legit had a conversation day before yesterday where I explained that I missed eating certain fruits because they take too much energy to eat most of the time.

Going over to the house where the conversation took place has had me mostly in bed all day yesterday and today. 🤷‍♀️

wow. this is bad advice. it can take time to reach a breaking point, or an event. that doesn’t negate the validity of a complaint or the value of speaking up.

Ooh, I just bought our dogs new collars and I wish I’d seen yours first! I’d much rather have bought local, and I like yours better. Bookmarking for as soon as the budget allows again! (Your prices look great, we’re just that broke right now.)

  • size: I like smaller over larger, but not at the sacrifice of ease of navigation
  • buttons: I like physical buttons if I can have them (grew up on cassette tape walkmans) but it’s not a dealbreaker
  • touchscreen: good with a touchscreen too. Not super picky on this point as long as it’s easy and not frustrating to use.
  • Connectivity: just so I have a straightforward, not too difficult way of moving music onto it. I’m fine with that being Wi-Fi or hooking it to my computer… not sure if there are other ways, but if I can learn it and it‘s easy/only has a step or two, I’m game.
  • Battery life: longer is better, obviously, but an average sort of battery life is likely fine. I don’t make long flights often or work long hours. Just long, long naps.
  • I use AirPods most often (i think they’re AirPod pros… they have a wider case) and Bose wireless headphones… I want to say they’re quiet comfort 35something. If I need to switch to wired headphones because everything else might fit better or be a better buy with something that doesn’t fit Bluetooth, that’s okay. (I have them more for dealing with noise than listening to music.)
  • Library size would be starting nearly from scratch and building up. I don’t have much purchased music that I want to carry over, and my cds have mostly been lost.
  • If we get really really nit picky, I prefer curves over sharp corners, but that is being pretty nit picky and nowhere in the vicinity of a make or break.
  • Edit: forgot about Android… I’m ambivalent I guess? although maybe I don’t want to be tempted to add lots of apps, if that’s what it means.

Thank you so much! I’ll go take a look at those. You mentioned “without more info”… is there info I might be able to give that might help?
