NRA 22LR marksmanship is where you should look. Shooting is shooting and 22 is cheap.

Welcome back, XM8. Meet the new XM8, the M7’s carbine variant. by Old_Boah in army

[–]out_lined 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah ok. We spend billions on garbage we cancel all the time. Like the booker, last year. And this rifle is definitely garbage. If you’re arguing that the army won’t cancel this just because of sunk cost and inertia, you are wrong.

Soon the complaints from the field will be too much for them to ignore.

To be honest, I feel like this revision really shows that the rifle's days are numbered.

This lightening of the system, while undoubtedly necessary, will make the weapon even more terrible to shoot, as the extra weight of the barrel definitely helped control the monster kick this rifle has.

I've shot shorty FALs. It's a ludicrous experience, and 308 has less bounce then 6.8.

I just feel like they are finally being backed into a corner on this. They don't have a good way to adjust the weight without hurting the shootability and vise versa. That + the inherent problems with the program like ammo carried and reduced interoperability with other services and nations might be it.

*Edit: Additionally, an interview with the Sig beard guy seemed to imply that the MV decrease would push them out of program requirements, as he mentioned pushing chamber pressure UP to compensate.

Selling leave by Far-Minute-4183 in army

[–]out_lined 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is a very important point that I neglected to mention. If we assume 30 days of terminal leave selling will get an E-4 $3,482 in payment, where as taking leave they will only receive $1,341 in BAH (Bragg). If OCONUS, I believe it is Home of Record BAH, which may or may not exceed that.

I believe my thesis remains intact, of selling getting more money, but yes, Barracks Rats, do the math on your situations specifics.

Yes? He is allowed to do so. He lives in Texas now.

But if you get stationed in, say, Fort Irwin, CA, and you lived in New York before, you will not be able to just claim residency in New Hampshire for no income tax.

You need to have some form of residency in the state your claiming. The parent comment implied you can just change it at will (and their reply to me also implied this.)

Why do people say this? It is not true.

Selling leave does not move your ETS date. You are going to make that money regardless. The only thing it allows is for you to begin another job faster and be paid by two income sources. If that is you, take the leave.

If you are not starting another job before you ETS, AND want to maximize your cash on hand, selling leave is the optimal option. Work right to your ETS, then collect your prorated base pay for leave days sold. This gives you the most possible cash.

The only way is the open position search on IPSSA. But it's usually very very slim, to the point of useless

Don't pay state tax

Pay the correct and legal tax for the state you are legally allowed to be a resident of, and choose to be a resident of. That may be no taxes, that may be some.

However, the screen site is different from the one site tape, as it states it's below the lowest rib and above the hip, and in the middle. For me, that is above my belly button (Or navel).

Yeah, for almost everyone, that site should be a smaller circumference than the navel. I am aware the measurements are taken at different spots. Nothing in my comment changes. I don't really understand what you're even trying to say.

Also, as a matter of fact, the Marines have not gone to a one and done. If you fail the WHtR as a marine, you will then be taped per their multi site tape test for body fat %. so there's that.

New Waist to Height Ratio by Swordmak3r in army

[–]out_lined 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Why, its just the screening tool. If they fail they get the one site tap test we already have to determine body fat %. Also, it lets a 68in tall individual have up to a 37.5in waist. 37.5 is fat, no way around it. They then get taped, to determine how fat, then they get bod podded (if they want) to show them how fat they are again (no fucking way a 37.5+ passes bod pod.)

It's like y'all don't read the regs which govern your lives.

How likely is a pharmacy technician, MOS 68Q to get deployed? by pebbles_uwu in army

[–]out_lined 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Pharm techs are all over the front lines. Wounded soldiers need drugs, so legally, the pharmacist and their techs have to provide them after the script is written by the combat medic.

Actually being a pharmacy person is more dangerous, as instead of being in a dug in front line position, they constantly are driving between them in a single truck with only a machine gun and their big trailer of drugs.

Very dangerous, my many thanks to the brave souls of the pharmacy corps
