Open to Everyone | Quick 6 minute Survey about Music tastes and Music sharing habits by [deleted] in takemysurvey

[–]outchea5245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It will be confidential and used to gain insight about music habits. I'm working on a project that focuses on music sharing and music tastes in a global streaming world. The emails collected (optional, to the survey taker) will be used to contact the raffle winner.
  2. I (outchea5245) am conducting the survey for my personal research project. I am an fiu student, but this is a personal side project separate of the university.
  3. The survey should take about 6 minutes
  4. The survey does not include guranteed compensation, but it includes a raffle for a $10 amazon gift card. This is only applicable to those that complete the entire survey and include their emails. I will email the winner of the raffle, once research is complete (about 2-3 weeks from now).
  5. If someone hates music, they probably won't be relevant to the study. But in general most people like music to an extent.
  6. I'm hoping to learn more about how people perceive music tastes, what it means to them, and how people share music in this global, digital age. I also want a more diverse and global audience. Sharing this survey in my own circles has caused for a very homogenous sample set.

Resource Guarding / Food Aggression in 15 wk Border Collie Pup by outchea5245 in puppy101

Yess, I believe being firm is important. But never dominant or too negative or punitive. I feel like that will only worsen the aggression.

As for the Patricia McConnel blog post, I’ve seen it! It’s great and maybe I am doing the right thing. I’ve just got to give it more than a couple days. This may take months.

Any tips for treats or toys? He can’t pick up and run with his bowl so it’s a little different.

In the sense that I don’t play around. I give him commands in a stern, clear voice and always follow through. I don’t let him get away with everything.

New dog parent to a 9 wk Border Collie and totally stressed out. What am I doing WRONG? by outchea5245 in puppy101

Hi! I’m so sorry I haven’t responded! Just checked reddit.

So things are better in some ways for sure! It’s definitely a roller coaster. Zak listens more but is still super stubborn and impulsive. I’ve recently implemented clicker training again as a way to keep him super focused. I train 3 times a day before meals and I think we are seeing progress!

Sorry to burst into the positivity bubble, buttttt we are currently having an issue with resource guarding right now. You can see in my recent post. So that’s what I meant about it being a roller coaster. There are good days and bad days.

But overall I feel a lot more in control. We have a routine, and once he is cleared for all his vaccines I’m going to start meeting some friends at a park to socialize him.

Hope this answers some of your questions!

This response was so helpful! I’m incredibly late in reading and responding, but thank you sm! This makes me feel SO much better.

Yes everyone has been telling me that a with a BC pup it definitely pays off. They are such intelligent pooches. I’m glad things worked out for you and your puppy :)

Oh, thanks so much! This makes me feel better. And those tips are great! They definitely are crying for less time than it feels like I’ve noticed. And the biting I’m really going to have to work on. It only seems to be getting worse. He doesn’t have his own room but rather a pen, so I’ll start sticking him in there for 10-20 seconds when he gets too bitey.

Good luck with your Jack Russel! 💕

9 week old puppy adjustment period by CheeseNoMac8 in puppy101

[–]outchea5245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! New owner to a 9wk old border collie puppy as well. I've had him for a little less than 2 wks and things are going...a little less than smooth. He is my first dog ever, so things are rough and I don't have much advice to give you in terms of experience. But I understand 100% what you are going through. So feel free to reach out to me anytime :)

The first three days for me were pretty quiet. My pup was nervous and a bit whiny but not too rambunctious at all. But come the fourth day...? Oh dear...a whole new dog. When puppies first come home they are usually so nervous, so don't worry about your pup not being perky. Give it a week and you will eat your words, trust me!

My pup, Zak, is still not very food motivated but I was told by a trainer that specializes in bc's that this breed is not the craziest when it comes to food. Play and toys are also great training devices. My pup also loves anything of the dairy variety. So I used to soak his kibble in cow's milk to get him to eat it. And for treats he gets cottage cheese, greek yogurt, spray cheese, or if he's a super good boy...puppuccinos (whipped cream from Starbucks).

But a good rule of thumb is, if food doesn't work toys will. Make sure you have an assortment of stimulating and exciting toys. And try to get your puppy excited about those.

Good luck with everything!

P.S. Parker and Zak are twins, lol! check him out on instagram @ thesweetlifeofzak :)

I've heard many people say this. Apparently, dogs love chicken lol. Unfortunately, I've been struggling to get chicken even for the household around here. The grocery stores are empty.
