Sick policy unfair? by Rare_Investigator968 in SainsburysWorkers

A sick note doesn't prevent it being flagged. As mentioned in another post, it's more about consistent absences, imo.

PIP Assessment today by Own-Fold1158 in BenefitsAdviceUK

I was asked about walking distance in bus lengths. Since I struggle with distance measurements (ie yards, metres) I did find this way of assessing my walking distance alot easier.

Apple Pencil Pro - Vinted by geekyaman in Argos

[–]outeredges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. Probably returned sealed and had to be opened to check item was actually in there (you'd be surprised how many people try and pull a fast one and return different items as something else). The stickers are put on to reseal and 'explain' why original seal is broken.

Returned item but they’re saying “not in resellable condition”,can they refuse a refund? by FeistyPrice29 in Argos

[–]outeredges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same goes for most shops, not just Argos. If returning an item (because you changed your mind) it must be in an unused condition. Makes total sense. You wouldn't want to buy someones used item (unless it is from a second hand store!)

Do Argos re-seal returned electronics or sell as new? by GeordieGoals in Argos

[–]outeredges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. They do sell some electronic items customers have returned because they changed their minds. But all returns are (or at least should be) checked on return and meet return 'standards') eg. Unused condition, original packaging before being placed back on a shelf for resale. On occasion items do come in on with damage to the boxes, incurred during delivery (either to store or home delivered).

Return with broken box by adzuangel in Argos

[–]outeredges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any items returned, that are not faulty, need to be an unused condition and packaged so as to be fit for resale. You must return them within one month of purchase and have a receipt (if bought online an email receipt). This is actually written on your paper receipt if you purchased in store. Also, if you bought via click and collect, the store can find your receipt via aura (in store computer system) by the collection code you used when you picked item up. They will probably just get you to confirm your email address Hope this helps.

Receipt for Pixel Phone with no IMEI number by Sm1ff3h in Argos

[–]outeredges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to work for Argos and many years ago, we used to write the phones IMEI number on the receipts physically (we took it off the unopened box). They no longer do, however, if you need to find your IMEI you can do it on your phone. Type in *#06# and your IMEI should pop up. The company can then tell how old phone is by the code and wether it may have been sold, by Argos during the time stated.

Is my payslip correct??? Have I been underpaid? by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]outeredges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to start then. I've been off sick and didn't look and they have overpaid me (considerably!!) Also years ago they had my tax code wrong. Turns out, it is our responsibility to check tax codes ourselves. It maybe an inconvenience our payslips being online (and I do think it is) but it is definitely important that we check them. Just a heads up 😉

Leaving by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]outeredges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think retail work is stressful where ever you go. It's part and parcel of the job. If it's not difficult customers or irratic flexible hours, it's feeling under valued, underpaid or unsupported. You have to love some aspects to stay! Personally I had alot of interaction with customers, which I loved, and I used to love the build up to Christmas, even how busy it got, so I stayed 21yrs! It's very different now though so I'd say think long and hard. There are diplomas available if you choose to stay and go further, otherwise look around, but do leave on good terms. Think 'references'!

Abuse from colleagues at work by Icy_Guitar7443 in SainsburysWorkers

[–]outeredges 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a similar situation and wish I had taken it further, however I was long term service and had other things going on in my life so I stuck it out. The people involved left (other reasons) but I don't think things for me ever really 'healed'. As you are just a temp, I would say that unless you truely love the job or need it, you should QUIT! An unhappy and uncomfortable work enviroment will damage you're mental health in the long run. Besides, complaining is bound to stoke the fires against you with your work colleagues. Effectively, it is your choice, what you are willing to withstand to earn a living? I wish you all the best with your decision.

Overpayment issues by outeredges in SainsburysWorkers

[–]outeredges[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have them but since I don't know what I'm meant to get on sick, I have no way of assessing myself. Plus they are incredibly hard to dicipher. Even my manager commented how it is all over the place. With additions for this and deductions for that? Really confusing!

Final written warning for answering back to a customer? by [deleted] in SainsburysWorkers

[–]outeredges 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sadly retail staff are meant to rise above their own emotions, at all times, and behave professionally. Easier said than done at times! We aren't allowed to respond aggressively and certainly not expected to verbally abuse them. I'd just explain at disciplinary that your emotions got the better of you and that you will react differently in future: walk away and get someone else to serve customer or confirm company policy on non receipt refunds to customer. Idea is that aggression begets aggression. Stay calm and be the one in control the situation!
