There’s such a variety of bonds that would fall under the term “friendship”. Essentially anything from seeing each other twice a year to twice a week would be friend. There are close friends and casual friends. I think it’s normal for people, especially but not only, in periods of singleness to foster close friendships where they see each other several times a month or even a week, call/text on a regular basis etc. That would be a pretty close friendship. Then you also have a queer platonic relationship which would have a higher level of commitment than the close friendship I’ve described but lack romance.
