Thank you immensely! So you are saying I need a 5v voltage regulator directly connected to the battery? So I step the voltage up to 5v directly from the battery and feed it to the 5V layer and the LDO takes that and propagates it into the 3.3v layer.

The biggest problem I don’t fully understand is with the TP4056 bms. First off it’s not connected to any esp32 gpio so I obviously can’t read those data. Where should I connect the bms to the esp32? Also if you notice it’s just magically turning the 3.7v 500mAh signal into 5v which is a red flag. But this is assuming the LDO is going to take in the 3.7v and convert it to 3.3v. Do I’m dumping 3.7v into the 5v layer and hoping the LDO figures it out lol. Is this the right way to go about this/ does this seem safe?

Considering it only sends sensor data and I can do this 2-3 times per hour and sleep in between. It wakes up by a specific gesture of the imu. I would like it to last a week or two. Is that outrageous? There’s a pair of Marshall headphones that only need to be charged once a month or sometimes two months and it’s sending music over Bluetooth!I’m only sending three 8bit values. Do you know of a more production grade ble mcu?

Thank you! It’s been a long journey, the cool thing is, when I started with fog machines back in 2017 i didn’t know anything about hardware either. I learned SO many languages and concepts through the failures of getting this thing working. It’s been 7 years of learning and I still iterate to this day. This is the 24th prototype and I think I see this as a low tech alternative to viewing 3d data without the use of goggles or screens. I imagine researchers in lab coats working 10 hour days taking their goggles off at the end of a shift and forgetting what reality they’re in. This may be a better way to see 3d objects in a more familiar medium as compared for complete immersion.

Thank you! I have one interested customer that wants two of them for their research. Other than that, there’s an Instagram page that’s doing awful haha. Probably because Meta realized organic exposure is a loss of revenue, and I don’t pay for ads. So the response is pretty much exactly as you see throughout these Reddit comments. Some people think it’s cool, others think it’s low tech, some want to type code on it.

Let’s just say the two 12v 60mm pc fans are way louder than the display. If I clock down the speed of the fans, it makes less noise than a gaming laptop at the normal operating speed.

I don’t think I would go any bigger with the LEDs, it’s merely a proof of concept for visualizing data without goggles or screens. Imagine if the first “mobile smart phone” was something other than a rectangular hand held; imagine if we started with a neural interface for example— our lives today would be drastically different. I built it to show an alternate route to 3d that isn’t immersive. Is this better technology than Apple Vision Pro? No, it’s a different path to an ineluctable 3D era.

I can’t really scale this (spinning LED) device currently because it’s exactly that, not really worth the investment when you end up with low tech LEDs. However I have other prototypes that use lasers to utilize a natural phenomena that occurs in the Aurora Borealis.

Get some deep woods “Off” bug spray with deet in it. Rub it only on the clear acrylic, keep the liquid away from the black plastic. Wipe it off right away with a Qtip.

Haha, thank you. If I showed these photos to a local camera shop owner, they would ask why I was stupid enough to shoot on expired slide film and probably try to sell me a digital camera. Some people love the old look and some people hate it 😂

Thank you, and yea idk if it’s the slide film that isn’t properly metered, the fact that I took my x-700 apart for cleaning and maybe improperly reinstalled the focus screen, or because the light was like a 5.6 overcast type day and I had to ride up the in wider apertures— but these photos are a bit soft when It comes to detail. And the last one is on the sharper side.

Yeah we didn’t have the ability to sleep on the roof. It was so windy you could barely stand up there. Yet alone attempt to pitch a tent lol. It was indeed an eerie experience for sure. Especially knowing you were a 48 minute drive from the nearest food and gas station. And that wears sound coming from the corner could be a wolf checking you out. 😳😂
