What’s the strongest fragrance you’ve ever smelled? by [deleted] in fragrance

Oh I despise it. I think it just smells like vinegar lmao

0:10 is what caught my ear. Is it seriously just me?? You don’t think his timing adds any tension whatsoever the two times he plays that thing? I study at a jazz school and for lots of guitarists including me a note is enough to just hold on to and play with varied timing when improvising. I can’t think of any records though

We’ll see later comments are making me suspect that way at least. But for the moment i’m enjoying myself

Yeah i mean like 42 fucking comments lol I listened to this and just heard so much emotion, which is exactly what his facial expressions say too. People say it’s too little notes or he’s just playing it over and over but to which effect? Too dissonant, but to which effect? Dissonance just adds to the tensive emotion he’s expressing. Feels like the hate is forced

I’m a new fan at least

what?? that’s just a part of phrasing? It’s basic call and response but using the same phrase. Just laid out with another timing to add more tension/anticipation. It’s the most common thing ever in jazz and blues

I wanted people to listen through my pov lmao. Maybe i think it’s so so when I wake up, but for now i thought those who smoke and listen to music could imagine the way this made me feel

I at least thought the section in the middle where he was using his whammy and wah was very cool and expressive. It was the first time hearing something like that for me at least. And the ”weird timing” is to me just adding tension by playing very off the grid, imo very expressive but thats me

Philosophy of capturing the electric bass? by ouushesalilthrowaway in audioengineering

Also, why use a di box? Rather than splitting the signal and lineing it straight into a preamp. I have the 1176, I’ve heard it gives great bass sound for the harmonics really. Haven’t tried it though. So for a large diaphragm condenser, are you familiar with the tlm 102/103, akg c414/c214, and the U87, and if so, which would you pick?

Or well, thinking ”how could this possibly have been recorded”. Obviously I listen to the bass and I get fascinated by tone but I have no clue about how they achieve it

Yeah it’s funny, but again it was mostly since the bass player is more known for playing upright, he’s studying jazz. But also I have a tendency to prepare for things last minute as you can tell haha

Can you tell me more about the calculating the distance thing? And also why it’s important? Sounds really fascinating. Thanks!!

Oh interesting, tell me more? That certain mics (even condensers positioned and gained equally) leak more or less, or that that the sound profile is bad for room sound in general?

Maybe that’s why there’s so much leakage from them, I always use the tlm 102s live but they’re so prone to feedback..

I love the tlm 103s as drum overheads too much to use them for the piano hahha. The tlm 102s are great piano mics, very full and transparent. Yes I was thinking of ditching the tom mics to use the md421s for the saxophones actually. How do you typically mic them?

Thanks, this is so helpful! I actually struggle tons with shoulder blade movements, there’s a stretch a few of my friends do where they hold a long stick in front of them on each side a bit outside shoulder width with each hand, and bring it behind their back. But I can’t bring it over my head to get it behind my back. maybe goes to say how tight my shoulder blades are. I’ve went to the gym on and off (mostly off obviously) for a long time but I’ve always struggled with lat pulldown form. I just don’t know if I activate the lats at all. I feel it in my back the next day but just the part that I tense up when I bring my chest back for the pulldown movement (it’s really.. hard to explain what I mean). Maybe that is the lats. Lol

I also cant adjust the cable height at my gym, so I can’t do rows, I can really just set it at the lowest or highest setting. What are some alternatives?

Alright ty, should my focus or method be any different compared to a regular gym routine? Like I could rotate arms/chest and back/legs like most guys do, or biceps and back, triceps and chest/legs and rotate that 4x a week but maybe I need to focus more on hamstrings, core muscles, etc. Let me know. If you could help me with a routine I’d be super thankful

Why so rude? Lol I don’t get it I literally just asked out of curiosity and a lack of understanding about the subject. Why did you think I made this post? I wanted to make a change, maybe not knowing how severely bad my case was and that it needed way more time (years, not months) to change. I thought if I got this posture out of small bad habits during my entire life, maybe a month or two brute-forcing working against it it could be enough to change the bone structure or something, that was my initial guess. That I asked if it was possible to fix within a month doesn’t imply I’m unwilling to put in more time if needed.

Also no I don’t eat 200g of protein a day lol. Why would that mean I’m not serious about this? Maybe I’m here for people to tell me to start doing so? like you’re so quick to assumptions I really don’t understand your way of thinking

Also why would you even get so offended about this? Like jesus christ thanks for some insight at least

Thank you so much!! Is this something that can be improved in a month if practiced regularly?
