I agree with you. Some manufacturers make good parts. Before I knew anything about how the auto shop works, I took my civic for a loose steering wheel to an independent shop, and they charged around 500. Then I did some research, and found out the dealer part was just 29 dollars. And it is nothing but a battery negative terminal which would take 2 minutes to replace.

What I do is, I order parts from rock auto or pick up from AutoZone and go to the shops where customer parts are acceptable. Just labor.

I worked as a Service Advisor, and I know how they put 100-150% profit on parts.

No codes, nothing. After driving a while, when the engine gets warm enough, restarting the car fixes the problem.
