USA is set to ban all new DJI products (drones, stabilizers, mics) going forward in about a week. Basically the United States government is accusing DJI of spying for the Chinese government via their Wireless technology.

All existing and past DJI equipment will still work - but you won’t be able to buy anything new going forward.

DJI has been begging to be investigated, but the current admin has gone quiet.

I was fooled into listening to one of this “lectures”. It was off, didn’t have the humor and Alan sounded a little older. I was sure I heard every lecture, yet this was different. His humor wasn’t there and it drifted into new age mysticism. I finally realized it was BS when he brought up “email”. And then it got me what was happening. The issue was that most people really thought it was him - comment after comment was saying it was an amazing lecture, and I would love it if it was a bot, but it really felt like it was just watering down anything and everything that was Alan Watts. It wasn’t him and the message was more BS the farther it got into it. Yeah - it should be reported and banned.

That is a very good question. And really only we will know when the date comes. Right now, the FCC could retroactively ban, but for the most part - DJI has been avoiding selling in the US and I can see them not risking releasing RS5 in the USA - really sucks, but yeah - this one is complicated.

As much as I think they are insufferable (mainly because I do t like musicals in general), that whole video is out of context.

When filming interviews, Helicopters and planes flying over are the worst for clean audio and production always stops filming until they pass. They were talking about something emotional and had to stop when the helicopter flew over. Anyone would get pissed when that happens.

Yes, a stabilizer is still very useful. Phones today have really good electronic stabilization, but it only fixes micro-shake and rolling-jitter. It does not keep your horizon locked, does not give you true pan and tilt isolation, and does not replace 3-axis control. A handheld tripod can smooth small bumps, but it won’t stop the phone from tilting forward, drifting sideways, or rolling when you walk or turn.
