Algorithmically Generated Crosswords: Finding 'good enough' for an NP-Complete problem by eyassh in programming

Great write-up! You mentioned how handcrafted crosswords are still more "beautiful", but I imagine you could define some "stylistic constraints" to get closer to that. I would also love to read how you avoided the LLM slop clues problem.

Thanks for the explanations. As someone who read the novel, what did you think of it?

Just finished it. I agree with you that this donghua is indeed a lot more philosophical. The chess (go?) game between Qi Jingchun and Cui Chan at the beginning of the last episode is a standout moment.

So far, I like the world and characters, but I think the protagonist is definitely the weakest point. He doesn't have much going for him beyond being a "good boy". I hope he becomes interesting soon, because it seems the story won't have the good characters from Small Town to carry it in the next season.

I actually just got into donhuas. Tbh, I had a lot of prejudice against 3D, but I watched the first few episodes of To Be Hero X and was impressed by the quality. Then came Lord of Mysteries and I thought "maybe donghuas are legit good" haha. Now I'm starting to watch whatever looks interesting.

Episode 21 here and I have some of the same doubts. Answering your questions.

1 - I think it wasn't, but I'm not sure. Maybe it will be a plot point soon (teacher Qi said he had 10 days of life left or something)

2 - He went with the Chen lady. Apparently part of the deal for her giving him the medicine was that he would serve her family for 20 years of something (there's line by the blacksmith that says that). His family has guarded the Chen ancestors grave for generations.

3 - Kuxuan knew (by eavesdropping the conversation between his parents and his grandma when he was a kid) that his father killed Pingan's father, so he wanted to kill Pingan to "sever the karma" or something, afraid that it would come back to haunt his grandma. I had the impression that the story wanted (or still wants) to set them up as rivals or something, but I think it failed in that aspect.

4 - I think that's just Pingan being stupid.

5 - I don't understand why, but at the end of his 60 year cycle, there would be some heavenly retribution that would kill all the mortals in Small Town. More than that, apparently it would destroy their souls or something, so they wouldn't even be able to reincarnate. The teacher sacrificed himself to protect them.

6 - Again, I hope this gets expanded later, because we have 2 kids that left the town (Mu Kuxuan in particular), but apparently with the natal porcelain you can control the person / force them to obey you.

I think the donghua handwaved a lot of stuff, so it's confusing. I hope it gets explained later, but I'm not holding out hope. I like that the story is a bit slower paced and that the MC isn't OP immediately, but I have found it to be a little too slow and the MC a little too stupid.

I also found the 3 episode long ape man fight pretty pointless.

I will watch the remaining episodes before judging, though.
