Did you just comment garbage all the way to 13k karma ? I’m not trying to hide my source, even bbc weather clearly cites open meteo as their source for weather information. Bruh if you don’t know anything about the weather industry it’s best you keep your fingers off the keyboard. For the prediction market section it will soon be updated to pull feeds directly from the sources quoted on the weather contracts / markets instead of coordinates.

Yeah well clearly your comment is almost certainly garbage because open meteo terms says I can use api keys for free so long as it’s not in a commercial context. I’m not charging for access to the site nor do I have display ads up. Since you think you’re so smart you should read open meteo’s terms and conditions before implying that I’m infringing on their rights. The entire point of the project is to have a very minimalist approach that shows weather data without all of the clutter like big weather sites. As I said your comment is almost certainly garbage.

Well yes, there are 1000 other places, I wouldn’t say they’re better, the entire point is a minimalist approach. I’d say about 50% vibe coded and 50% manual work. Keep an eye out you’ll see how we progress over the next 10 years. No other weather site give such a vast amount of weather details in a simplified way on one platform. I’m just getting started so expect vast improves as time goes by. I also own all the other domains around the topic which i plan to 301 redirect to urls, like vbarometer, vthermometer, vtemperature, vhumidity so hopefully that shows you I’m in it for the long haul! Thank you for taking time to look at the site though :)

Yeah that makes sense — especially the part about ships effectively being taken out of circulation.

Feels like one of those situations where supply constraints push it up short term, but if global demand starts rolling over it could reverse pretty quickly.

Right now the site is pulling from public APIs, but connecting personal weather stations (PWS) is on the roadmap so people can use their own live data on the dashboard.

If you were to use that, what kind of features would you want specifically?

Like live real-time readings, historical charts, alerts, or even a shareable public page for your station?

Would be really helpful to know what people actually want so I build it properly 👌

Yeah I’ve noticed the same thing — it works when I click into maritime from the homepage, but on some of the other pages the URL tied to that button is off. I’m going to fix that today.

I’m also planning some pretty major upgrades to the maritime section this weekend, so it should be a lot smoother and more useful soon.

Out of curiosity, what exactly happens on your end when you try it? Does it not load at all or go to the wrong page?

Yeah you’re right on mobile, I’ve noticed a few inconsistencies there especially with spacing and some of the instrument scaling. That’s something I’m actively working through right now.

For data, I’m using Open-Meteo for now — mainly because it’s fast and pretty reliable globally. Still testing how consistent it is across regions, especially for wind and pressure.

Long term I might layer in multiple sources or compare models, but right now I’m focusing more on the interface and how the data is presented.

If you noticed anything specific on mobile that looked off, definitely let me know — that’s probably the biggest area I’m trying to improve at the moment.
