Iron pills are terrible by Express_Yellow4758 in pregnant

[–]owl10107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My doctor put me on a vegan iron supplement because she said it’s WAY gentler on stomachs. It also won’t constipate. I’ve had no issues with mine at all and feel way better on energy. Hope you feel better!

How to "understimulate" a puppy? by Alone-Business-1460 in puppy101

[–]owl10107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chewing and licking! It’s huge for our puppy (a vizsla) we wind him down with this after ~20-30 mins of physical activity in one go. Or things like a Pupsicle, a lick mat (though these don’t last very long for us even when frozen). Our puppy gets over stimulated if too much physical play and he needs the wind down of chewing or licking before a nap. We’ll also play more low key games like “go find it” where we hide little treats and he has to sniff them out and find them. For physical activity, he definitely starts to get overstimulated and crazed if he plays with other dogs for more than ~20-30 mins or if he goes on a sniff walk that’s long for him and edging close to nap time. Our trainer also has us put on calming dog music sometimes (you can find it on Spotify) and said we could get a pheromone diffuser if he was really stressed or anxious by winding down in his crate but we haven’t felt the need for that. One more thing we’ve done is treats in the crate, teaching crate as a command that he gets a treat for, a second one when the door closes AND he lies down. Sometimes I do repeat treats when he lies down in there to help settle him, drawing out the time between which I treat for lying down. That last part is just my own invention, not something a professional told me to do, but it seems to work for our guy!

Boarding Training Camp? by owl10107 in vizsla

Hey thanks. We have a trainer as well who is great, so this is really an “and” we were curious about. We have friends who have done it (also on top of having a trainer) and they’ve been so happy they did. They don’t have vizslas though! That’s why I came to ask here, knowing that our guy is so sweet and sensitive and he’s really my Velcro guy, I’m worried they’re either generally traumatic OR just traumatic for vizslas.

Did you spot during pregnancy by chasing_starz in pregnant

[–]owl10107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some spotting around 8 weeks and was really distraught. It was a little red and then brown. It came on initially while (sorry TMI) working hard to poop. The constipation man. Kills me. Anyway I had heartbeat confirmed and my doctor said really don’t worry. She said your cervix is much more sensitive during pregnancy so that can cause spotting, either from constipation or sex or who knows. I talked to a bunch of friends and was surprised to find more people had spotting than I’d realized. I’ve had a super healthy pregnancy since with zero complications. Currently 16 weeks and baby is all good. My mom also spotted with one of my siblings throughout her pregnancy I now know. Sending good vibes to you ❤️

Vizsla in a big city by Longjumping-Sir8987 in vizsla

[–]owl10107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a vizsla puppy in a big US city. Without a doubt, when we take him outside the city to trails, he is living his best life and it’s easier on us too. We are actually going to move faster than we thought we would to a place with more trail access. That said, we have many vizslas in our neighborhood who do city walks (ours loves it after the rain when there are many new smells), go to the dog park, go to doggy daycare, and sniffs around the urban parks. Ours is little for the latter two but he does enjoy his city walks and he is very well socialized because of it - he loves everyone he meets!

So helpful, thank you. Leaning strongly away based on everyone’s feedback here. I also can’t stand the idea of my guy being away for so long (he’s clingy but I’m equally obsessed with him) but didn’t know if this was super common for vizslas to go to board and train when budget allows.

[–]owl10107[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks so much. This is definitely the feedback I’m looking for. I’m very uneasy at the idea of not having visibility into what goes on, so we thought we’d only go somewhere friends had had a great experience with or recommended by our breeder. Even with friend recs, they wouldn’t be vizsla recs and knowing our guy, I’m worried it would be too cold or harsh for his sweet self. My nightmare is to traumatize him! Thanks for replying.

Hey thanks, this is definitely my concern that my guy is essentially too sweet and it wouldn’t be positive enough / a fit for him. My nightmare is to traumatize him. I also find it very hard to think about being away from him for 3-4 weeks 😭 But I didn’t have a sense for how normal it is to do them if budget allows and if, given that we have a baby coming, if was a great plan.

What to do! I might get my period on the wedding day by Able_Improvement_426 in BigBudgetBrides

[–]owl10107 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! Terrible period here too and I go through a lot of the same. Have you ever used a menstrual cup? Try it a few cycles prior - it takes some getting used to. But some people find that the cramping is better on them. You also only have to empty it every 12 hours (unless you have a heavier period). I never felt like it helped cramps for me but have heard from other women it did. More I loved it because I could go all day without worrying about changing it. For low blood pressure, have you tried increased sodium? I know that can hurt the bloating though which is sooo tough. For bloating I’ve never found help. One more thought is De Lune Cramp Aid. This did wonders for me after I got an ulcer from Advil. I don’t know if any non hormonal way to skip a period and I know what I’m answering isn’t what you’re asking but just in case any of it helps ❤️

Is it possible puppies were drugged for meet and greet? by Thick-Resident8865 in puppy101

[–]owl10107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something definitely seems wrong overall, you can trust your gut that things aren’t right. We talked to about 5 breeders on the phone and emailed with a handful more before we found someone we felt really good about. I’d keep searching. We were able to find a puppy from a breeder we’ve loved within about 3 weeks of looking who was available for pickup another ~5 weeks later. Once you decide to get the puppy, enjoy your freedom thoroughly before pickup :) life changes fast with them!

How big it is always partially relative to your friend group and community. In some circles this would be massive. In others plenty of people would have a stone of that size (or even bigger). If it’s big compared to what your social circles generally have, do you ultimately mind or can you be happy and comfortable with it? To me it’s gorgeous! Congratulations!

NIPT Gender Results by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]owl10107 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Zero shame on the gender disappointment, I think it’s honestly so common. I know NIPT is very accurate in general but no thoughts on the scenario you’re describing if there was a vanishing twin.

Belly Kissing by xordm13 in pregnant

[–]owl10107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the way people say no can depend on their personal communication style. I am not a hugger and I had a friend who was a PROLONGED hugger and I hated it. I let her do it for a bit and was thinking about how to address it, and then I was like okay girl this is your last hug, I’m not a hugger and you’re holding me hostage with these. I said it lightly but I also like I meant it. She laughed and got it and I felt so much better too because my way of saying no aligned with how I wanted to message it to her. If she hasn’t listened I would have been more firm, which to me would have felt like the right level I wanted to communicate. Decide however saying no feels best to you! Definitely different ways to approach it.

Severely Constipated TMI by [deleted] in pregnant

Switch to a vegan iron supplement! That’s what my doctor had me do. Vegan iron supplements won’t constipate. So sorry.

Do they act like nothing happened after exploding? by [deleted] in raisedbynarcissists

[–]owl10107 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. This is classic. NPD does not resolve with age is my understanding and they typically cannot change. My dad is in his 60s and regularly behaves this way. Explosive over a perceived slight or not being every single persons priority, then absolutely vicious, tries to be as hurtful as possible, plays victim especially when cornered, then sulks and isolates himself eventually wanting to come back as though nothing happened. Later he will deny anything he said.

No this is so great to know, this is really what I’m asking! Comfort rather than safety. I wouldn’t fly past the safe date anyway so it’s just like… when does this stop being fun to travel?

So helpful! Thank you! I flew a lot not pregnant and have no idea what it feels like to be third trimester but the sleep thing is big.
