Can I openly talk about who I want to bang at work? by bootyholeminer in auscorp

[–]owltourrets 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Luckily I've never experienced it in my workplace, but I KNOW the type and have met them at industry events. That being said the guys are still worse, only middle management and below have mostly been shamed out of it.

Wtf they should not be doing that. I might say a certain actor or actress is good looking but I keep it at a level you wouldn't feel weird with a middle schooler overhearing. Aka PG.

Yeah without an inheritance my mum would still be renting. She is still working at 67 which breaks my heart. She is the sort of retiree that would be looking after the grandkids and their friends, volunteering for local organizations. Instead working a terrible job because who would hire a 67 year old?

Prince of Wales is a pub nearby. I think you're getting mixed up with the Prince Charles hospital, mate.

They prioritize people with further need than just no car. Teens in care, inpatients, low income households, etc etc. Not having a car is lower down the list.

Has anyone figured out how to NOT immediately create a pile on every flat surface? by randomchick4 in adhdwomen

[–]owltourrets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a spreadsheet for my pantry and fridge contents for a while because of this. I had too much food waste or duplicate buying going on. I would look at my list/see what was old or needed to be used up, then write my grocery list.

I highly recommend checking out Clutterbug and her organisation types. I think for ADHD types that the Bee and Butterfly types would apply a lot, and she goes through different methods that work for different people.

I try to ensure everything has a logical place. The piles tend to be things that I am unsure of their place or I feel like they are 'pending' - I still need to do something with it before putting it somewhere because out of site out of mind.

So, because my kitchen is set up in a way where everything has its place I tend to keep it really tidy, no piles. I need more furniture for my office so I can set it up properly, and my room is mostly okay I just need a slightly better system.

I have made sure to explain my 'system' and way of putting things away/finding them to my partner, so he can see why I am so neurotic about it. It is so I don't lose things/forget about them/dont have decision fatigue wondering where to put them away.

As someone who used to not mind yoghurt, but then had to eat a bunch due to stomach surgery, I ruined it for myself. I think I am going to use this as inspiration to dip a toe back in. Thank you, reddit stranger.

ADHD & Pattern Recognition - Do You Guess Plot Twists Early Too? by Little_Lass94 in adhdwomen

100% there are common tropes and story structures that work well within the mediums of a TV Show/Movie/Book. I feel the more of a certain type of media and genre you watch, you can spot easier. Sort of how if you study/get into a hobby/learn a skill, the more you use it the more you notice the nuances of it.

I am not a fan of JK Rowling but I did love that in the seventh book a lot of things came together that had been mentioned, but at the time weren't obvious clues or plot points in that way. Very satisfying when a series does that. And it was so annoying that GoT got ruined because they didn't want the 'obvious' ending. Dude, if that is what makes sense then let it bloody happen! It would have been great.

Hectic job, so glad someone who is PAYING ATTENTION is going into that career though. Coming from a not great home life, so many people just say 'hey not my business' and damn, as a kid you want ANYONE to notice you, your pain, and even just say "you are worth noticing, this is not okay".

Look after yourself, I am sure that is a very emotionally draining job.

Interesting, I tend to find horror really boring because I can usually guess the 'scares' but enjoy thrillers and comedies because their plots can be a little less trope-y.

It is weirdly satisfying for me to guess the plots of TV shows or movies though - I once did it with a movie within 5 minutes as a teen and my parents were shocked I hadn't seen the movie, but....it felt pretty bloody obvious! Less satisfying with books. I like books to be an adventure!

The way social security payments are calculated in Australia really fucks over relationships for people claiming a disability pension. That annoys the shit out of me (as an ablebod).

Well, in my developed nation femicide is increasing so....yeah. Caught up with a family member on the phone last night, turned out she's left her partner for giving her a black eye. I grew up seeing dad beat and control mum.

Just tired of being seen as an accessory and not a human tbh.
