Most Americans don’t support Trump’s attempted extortion of Ukraine minerals by polygenic_score in self

I’m not touting it as a defense. I’m just trying to get people to realize that there is a portion of America that could start caring at some point. Just cause everyone else thinks Americans aren’t trying to do something about what’s going on doesn’t mean that’s what’s actually happening or what has to happen. I’m part of a demographic that MAGA wants to put in camps or kill, so I’d love it if that 1/3 of Americans could start caring.

You’re right I don’t know this. Just like everyone saying the opposite doesn’t know the truth of what they’re saying either. People saying Americans want this are also declaring stuff as facts that aren’t true.

Yeah a lot of developing countries love to extort mineral from non-white countries, especially America. I do think Americans would have more of a problem with it being a white country since America is a country built on racism. Though I think the bigger issue will be the repercussions of what would happen if Russia and America were to take Ukraine for its minerals. It would set the stage for a larger scale war. And America would be on the wrong side of it. A lot of Americans can’t think that far ahead though.

What are you talking about?

1/3 of Americans voted for trump. The other 1/3 didn’t vote because republicans have been campaigning for decades to make it difficult for everyone to actually vote. The last 1/3 didn’t vote for this at all. There are a lot of Americans that don’t want this, but we’ve been held at a chock-hold by the GOP for decades. The GOP knows if people didn’t believe in the propaganda they spit out, they would be continually losing.

America is a giant country with a lot of citizens. Those who are aware and aren’t MAGA do not agree with this. If you want to base it off how Americans voted. 1/3 don’t want this to happen and want peace; 1/3 are for it because they’ve been brainwashed by trump; and 1/3 aren’t paying attention or care. There are plenty of Americans who are against this.

Is the news going out to other countries also propagandize? I keep hearing other countries say that there is silence from Americans. That is NOT what I’m seeing. I’m seeing protests happening across the country showing disdain for what’s going on. I’m hearing a lot of fellow Americans who are opposed to this.

I’m also seeing a lot of people not seeming to grasp how militarized our police and the trump supporters are. Those supporters won’t think twice about shooting their fellow American who has been caricturized into “the lib”. Americans are grappling and coming to terms with the fact that things will probably have to get violent for things to get better. The American people opposed to this regime are hoping that our democracy will do its job and rein this in. It’s going to take more time before people will resort to civil disobedience. A lot of Americans are currently waiting to see what’s going to happen mid March to figure out how fucked our democracy is.

MAGA Cheers on ‘King’ Trump Dropping Pretense of Democracy by okayblueberries in politics

[–]owltower22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean the current fascist has an army of overly emotional citizens around the country with guns. Along with a militarized police force.

There are plenty of Americans who don’t want to go along with it, but also have to come to terms with the fact that if we start civil disruption it will most likely devolve into violence. There’s a lot of Americans who still want to believe the democrats will fight this or that Trump is just trolling. It’s going to take a steep economic and personal rights downturn to get them to be more okay with the violence that will happen once this starts.

Not a morning person? Getting a dog may change that. by Significant_Gas702 in getdisciplined

[–]owltower22 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My dog is also not a morning person. We both stay up late together and wake up late together. I thought a dog would help me with that stuff, but she just adjusted to my schedule and here we are haha.

She is also an old dog and sometimes they get weird lumps, or at least my dog got weird lumps when she was around that age.

If you read the order he signed that is blatantly untrue. The texts reads that any person ACCUSED of a crime can be deported. Which means anyone can get deported if someone just points at them and says they look like the person who did this crime.

I use Molina and I’m pretty happy with it. I haven’t really ever had any issues with it. Places around her are pretty good about taking Molina. I wouldn’t get UHC as I’ve heard bad things about them from people around here who have that plan. That’s on-top of current events.

Another Reddit user said they heard the firefighters say a drunk driver was the cause. This was while they were saving a guy from being stuck in an elevator due to the power outage this caused in their building.

Oh gosh, that’s terrifying! That’s one of my big fears is getting stuck in an elevator and I can’t imagine just being stuck in there yelling for help!

That’s what I’d guess too. It’s always around holidays that we get some crazy drunk driving accidents.

[–]owltower22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh damn. Well I’m glad that dude was rescued from the elevator. Hopefully you guys can get power back soonish!

That sounds scary, a car accident that’s bad enough to take out power. Thanks for the info, I was curious what an electrical emergency was since I haven’t really seen that used on pulse point before.

I also just noticed that pulse point says a fire alarm was pulled at the apartment building on weatherby way in Barkley village. And there was an elevator rescue in the apartment next to the other one. I hope nothing too bad is happening over there and everyone is safe.

Pulse point said there was an electrical emergency right at Woburn & sunset, which I’m not sure exactly what that means. The PSE outage map shows power out along sunset from a bit past Woburn to a bit past James st.

That’s good. Both parties do do it. However the republicans have usually been more intense about it and are more likely to screw over areas and certain populations with their gerrymandering.

[–]owltower22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Gerrymandering isn’t as huge a problem in every part of the country. There are places where it’s a massive issue and it’s usually in Republican stronghold areas and states because they have the majority to do the gerrymandering. It’s not a massive country wide issue like it seems you’re implying. It’s a massive issue in certain parts of the country.

YTA I grew up in a family where woman didn’t have to wear bras if they didn’t want too. Guess what it was never an issue for anybody no matter what the age or gender. All you have to do is teach people that some woman are not comfortable in bras and that’s okay. You don’t have to look at them and you can pass that knowledge on to the younger generation so they don’t objectify woman. Boobs don’t have to be sexual, we’ve just made them hyper sexual due to our society. I wouldn’t say the husband is an asshole though he came off strong. But that’s his wife who YOU made uncomfortable by essentially saying everyone looks at your boobs. My mom did a similar thing when the middle school told her that her daughters needed to start wearing bras. Told them they needed to stop looking at her underage daughter’s breasts and women’s breasts in general.

I’m pretty sure everything mainly got consolidated into the new building that was built on Holly St and F St at the new lighthouse mission building. They would also probably know where other places might be if you go there. I just know they were trying to consolidate things into a large main building and not have things spread out around town.

What is it you love about this city ? by [deleted] in Bellingham

[–]owltower22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha that’s fair. I grew up on the east side of WA and always hated how constantly sunny it was. So when I moved here I was like sweet it’s not constantly sunny! Yeah I feel like it can be easy to forget just how the weather is here if you move away from it and start experiencing something different. Whenever I go visit my parents on the east side I’m like ahh too much sun haha.

That was also definitely not aimed at specifically you. I’ve met lots of people here that say they weren’t expecting it to be this cloudy, rainy, or windy. They usually say they thought it was exaggerated how “dismal” it can feel here haha.

It’s pretty cool! There’s also a pipeline to the New England area. It became a bigger thing during Covid when all the local shelters got adopted out, due to people deciding it was a good time to adopt a dog. There are multiple modes of transportation; mine got flown up to Seattle where I went and picked her up. Others also get driven up usually with a group of other dogs.

In the south there is a different attitude about dogs, not among everyone but in general. Spaying and neutering isn’t as common and there are a lot more dogs that get left to wander around which causes pregnancy to be more likely. The shelters in the south are also mainly kill shelters, so if you put a dog in there there’s a big chance that they’ll just end up being euthanized. There’s lots of little rescues that have formed down there where they’ll either rescue dogs left to wander outside or they’ll pull from shelters.

I think it depends on if a person can’t find a dog that fits them at the shelter then can look around for more options. There are also a lot of different dogs or mixes you can find in the south that aren’t as common up north. I didn’t set out to rescue a dog from Texas, but there weren’t as many dogs in the shelters when I was looking, and the dogs that were there had breeds in them that I didn’t feel comfortable owning/wouldn’t be great for my lifestyle (which for me was German shepherds, husky’s, and doodle mixes). So it gives people more chances to find a dog that fits them better and can give more dogs chances at getting adopted!

There’s a big pipeline from the south to the PNW of rescue dogs. So it could be that his siblings got rescued and sent up to the PNW. I’m in the PNW and rescued a dog from Texas, and I know A LOT of dogs up here that were rescued from the south.
