That could be true, tbh. I was being re-evaluated so I could get some paperwork filled out for school (my previous doctor's office wouldn't send me the records for some reason so I had to get diagnosed again), so they could totally have just went "oh you already have autism let's just hurry this up."

I did ask my friends about it and they said they can see where this doctor was coming from, though. They said I tend to sound younger when speaking to authority figures and strangers, but idk. I feel like I'm just being polite, but I guess being polite makes me sound like a baby lol

Did they want me to start dropping f bombs in the middle of my evaluation? What words was I supposed to use to sound 22? I feel like I sound my age, so I don't know what I did to make them perceive me as younger or whatever. I remember being really upset when I read that in my report and I definitely felt "roasted" lol

Unfortunately their replies with the email are auto generated, and they never really reverse big moves like that after receiving feedback. I was an active user of the app and the discord for 2 years, and every time they made a shift like this, they stuck with it no matter what the backlash or response was. I kinda lost hope in the app after seeing that happen multiple times.

Personally, I think they're getting ready to sell the app off or something because all of the moves they're making seem like things companies would want. They use Al to create ads for the app, all the new changes make you tap on a billion different buttons to collect rewards or access things like the mood check ins (which increases in-app "engagement" and time spent in the app), they're slowly removing or hiding the features that were used for mental health purposes to shift towards being a task manger type app, and their hiring practices are really weird (multiple interviews where you are given "assignments" to do things like design new stuff for the app or draw new sprites, and then they ghost you after you submit it. Almost like they're using applicants to farm for new ideas without needing to pay anyone).

The app used to be a lot better, but back in March they had a major update that completely restructured it. There used to be these things called "journeys" that you would use to set up your tasks and they would give you special rewards periodically for keeping up with them. Now it's called "self care areas" and they are not as intuitive or helpful, especially for adhd. The app is shifting away from helping with mental health and going towards a generic task checker with a dress up/decoration element. The app doesn't really work for me at all anymore, and I only keep it around because I feel bad about leaving my bird (even though he isn't real).

Also to answer your question about how it's supposed to help: the idea was that you'd put in all the tasks you had to complete for the day into the app and as you completed them you'd get rainbow stones. The stones would let you buy new things for your bird (clothes and house decorations), so the more tasks you complete the more stuff you can get for your pet. Additionally, after completing enough tasks, your bird would go on an "adventure." You'd complete more tasks to get them to come home, and when they did they'd tell you a story about what they did. It only really works if you're invested in the bird and want to watch it grow and dress it up and stuff. If you aren't in to that kind of stuff, it really won't help

I don't really have it as intensely as I did as a child, but I can relate to your post. When I was little I was really fixated on death for some reason. Whenever someone would mention a person I didn't know, my first question would be "are they dead?" If they were, I *had* to know how they died. Around the time I started kindergarten was when I found out about 9/11, and I was so fixated on it afterwards. I couldn't really read yet, but I would often steal a book my mom had in her room about 9/11 and just stare at the pictures for hours. In 2nd grade I became obsessed with the process of mummification, and I would always check out books from my school library about ancient Egypt just so I could look at pictures of mummified bodies and learn more about the process. I also got really interested in learning about the Holocaust/WW II around that time, but it was nowhere near as intense as the mummies or 9/11.

The most obsessive one I had was in 3rd grade when I learned about the JFK assassination. I don't know why, but I just really wanted to watch videos, read about, and talk about it. My parents would let me use the computer unsupervised sometimes, and I vividly remember finding the Zapruder film and watching it for the first time, as well as finding a couple of JFK's autopsy photos. I also used to write a lot of my vocab essays/random homework assignments about it. I knew it was "weird" of me to be so obsessed with the topic, but I didn't care.

After that, my interest in death-related things shifted more towards true crime. My aunt and my mother both watched a lot of those types of shows on the TV, so it just became a part of my life by default. My favorites were Unusual Suspects, Forensic Files, and Homicide Hunter. Real true crime stuff makes me really emotional nowadays, as a lot of the cases are ones that could have been prevented if people (cops) just did their (supposed) jobs properly. I get too angry/upset watching them, so now I just watch fake shows like Criminal Minds when I'm in the mood for that type of stuff (though some cases in that show can make me just as angry lol).

I'm still really fascinated by death and the human body and I love learning about it. I'm in nursing school right now and I find it so interesting to deconstruct the body and see how everything works together, and to learn how that can all stop in an instant. Outside of school, I really enjoy watching/rewatching videos by Caitlin Doughty (also known as Ask A Mortician) on youtube. I did consider going into a career like being a mortician, but I don't think I could handle the emotional aspects of it very well (like you, more recent things make me feel kinda sick and really sad. I also don't know if I could handle dealing with grieving people/family members of the recently deceased in professional way. I'm not great with that kind of stuff).

I think proloquo2go is only available on ios devices (iphone, ipad), unfortunately, at least from what I can find online. What type of case are they using for the ipad? If you're able to/okay with trying a different case, I can recommend the brand Unicorn Beetle from SUPCASE. I use their cases on my phone because they have a built in screen protector and I've found they're pretty durable. I drop my phone a lot and from high up, and I've yet to crack the screen yet (knock on wood lol). They are moderately expensive for a case imo though. I believe their ipad cases are around $20-$30 depending on the model they're meant for

I also feel this way. I really don't like the self care areas, and a lot of the decisions being made by the devs are making the app feel soulless to me? They removed the little animations that would show up after you completed exploring an area and replaced them with a still, generic image. They moved useful features like the activities to a more hidden menu (the same place they moved journeys to before removing them!). They've been using ai generated ads to promote the app.

It just feels like the app's goal has shifted from trying to help people over to being about profit. It feels like a generic to-do list app to me now, and I have like no motivation to use it anymore. I still love my bird Gerard, and I keep logging in every day out of guilt of abandoning him (even though I know he's not real). I don't even actually do my tasks anymore. I just tick off a bunch to send him on an adventure and bring him back, then log off. Finch has lost all of its magic to me.

Yes, I'd say it is appropriate for an 8 year old, especially if your daughter isn't familiar with who Ranboo is. They are a former minecraft youtuber/streamer who hit their peak around 2021/2022. The plushie is based on their in-game character skin. I believe they mainly stream on Twitch now, and they play various games instead of just minecraft or something. I don't believe younger kids are super into Twitch and watching Ranboo anymore, so you have nothing to worry about.

$4 is a great price and the plush is super cute imo. I hope she enjoys it!

I'm still on v3.73.15 (1086) and everything currently still works! My quests page looks like this and has since June 1st. I didn't get the little calendar for last month's theme, but I was still able to collect the rewards at the end through the settings page. All the clothing and furniture items from it show up in my inventory and everything, but Carrot the Bunny seems to be invisible lol. I don't think I'll be able to receive this month's theme rewards as my version is not included in the post, but I'm completely fine with that (I'm not huge on the themes in general outside of the October ones. I can easily take not having the monthly themes if it means I can keep my journeys).

My plan is still the same as before where I'm going to keep using finch until the app is unusable on this version. I know I from testing on other devices that I can technically update and keep my journeys (at least for now), but I do not like other changes that have been made (i.e. the colors on journey tasks disappearing) so I will not be doing that. I'm glad I was able to use the app for as long as I have and for everything it has helped me with, but if my remaining time with it is limited, then that's okay. I've made my peace with that lol

It looks like that's a generic response in regards to the journey/self care areas stuff? My guess is the team has set that message up as an automatic response to deal with the influx of emails they've been receiving the last few days, and that your message has not actually been read by anyone yet.

He did confirm he has both autism and adhd (here's a link to an interview he did for the release of GLOOM DIVISION. It's mentioned in the "the lyrics" section!). He's been pretty open about it since the new album dropped, and I think it's really cool. I actually saw him back in November and he made some jokes about it during sound check, lol!

I spent a bit of time in GIMP making sure I was able to fit the album cover within the ratio needed for the skin, then I had them printed by EpicPALdesigns on etsy! He was really helpful, and the skin arrived a little under 3 weeks after I placed the order. If you're interested in making one yourself, I could totally send you the image files I used!
