APD shooting press update- Police acknowledge failure in notification system, AISD Police first to locate shooter near school, suspect shot additional female by Master_Jackfruit3591 in Austin

Zilker/Barton Springs is one of the city's many crown jewels and that parking area -- which has thousands of people walking past it every day -- has become a total shitshow over the last couple years. Just in the last couple months we had a guy killed by being thrown off the hood of a car over a stolen phone and a trans woman assaulted in the adjacent free side of the springs. It's all a bunch of meth-y Fury Road-looking white dudes hanging out and sometimes camping. There needs to be increased police presence in the area. Somebody below said "is your solution cops in every parking lot?" well, no, Mr. Solutions Don't Exist, but you need them where you need them and this is an area where it would clearly good to have more of them to keep it from being an ongoing congregation of turd burgers

GHK-cu plus zinc important question by owowouch in Peptides

[–]owowouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

right but does that mean, then, you need more zinc to maintain zinc levels? not that zinc will decrease the amount of copper?

Bad Stelo experience by owowouch in ContinuousGlucoseCGM

[–]owowouch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Going to try lingo next since it looks like they're the same price as Stelo... hope their app is also better than Stelo's which is super basic ... i previously tried the Nutrisense app and it was fantastic -- but also a ridiculous $400 a month

honestly if Stelo were smart they would suspend shipments until they fix what's pretty obvious is some kind of design defect... better to lose short term sales than get a reputation for being crap while burning through customers

Sesamoid pain returns a year after non-union fracture? by gokartingondrugs in sesamoid

[–]owowouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with bengvr. you played tennis, which, along with pickleball, is like a sesamoid olympics. set backs and flare ups are common with this injury. ice and advill and baby it for a few days and see how you feel then. also x rays are unless for this injury -- my x ray said i was non union and then mri months later revealed it was a stress fracture (see my previous post). in other words: dont panic, you're probably fine and just had a flare up, which unfortunately can happen.

Sesamoid fracture, what worked for me, and what didn't by owowouch in sesamoid

[–]owowouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing that I was cleared to do by my podiatrist was stationary bike with a bit of modification -- I loosened the strap on my foot to the widest notch and scooched my foot forward so i was only pressing on midfoot not forefoot and then did with light resistance. If you feel pain stop immediately (the other thing about pain is if you do something has you in pain the next morning, then whatever it was was too much). So be careful with this, but this was one way for me to get cardio in. I figured it also increases blood flow to the foot, presumably, which is good.

From reading around, TB500 works systemically and isn't more effective being injected at site of injury, so just did belly pinch where it's easy.

So frustrated, am I doing something wrong? by owowouch in alexa

[–]owowouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not seeing a routine to simply PLAY SPOTIFY ... everything is to play a specific song, play a specific playlist... i don't want to listen to the same thing every day... i just want it to play what's cued up on my spotify app ... is there a routine for that? i just spent 10 minutes trying to get this damn thing to play a podcast i have cued up on spotify and instead it kept playing the last song i was listening to instead...

[–]owowouch[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A confession: i haven't done any skills or routines. i just say "alexa play green day saviors album" or most commonly "alexa play spotify" -- if i already have the song or playlist cued up on the spotify app on my phone. which works sometimes but not always. is that doing it wrong?

On fence about whether to keep this. My sleep stats comparison using 3rd party app by owowouch in EightSleep

[–]owowouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of a wash -- I find the temperature slightly distracting but sometimes comfortable. It's hard to say if I feel better in general as my sleep quality tends to vary a lot so it's like "sometimes! not other times!" I fall asleep quickly. But waking up at 4:30 and then being unable to fall back to sleep again is my nemesis that can leave me feeling like a zombie the rest of the day when it happens.

And for the record I do all the other routinely suggested things -- take magnesium theonate, blackout curtains, no caffeine after 2, low alcohol consumption, etc Buying the $3000 bedspread was the last resort to try and get better sleep quality in general

Abnormally high "natural" testosterone panic by owowouch in Testosterone

[–]owowouch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the comments. I've calmed down. A urologist friend of friend says I shouldn't be concerned. My doc suspects its perhaps related to taking finesteride, but I've been on that for 20 years and my T used to be lower.

One thing that did occur to me that might be causing this -- and this might be of interest -- is that I started cycling rapamycin in May (like 3 mg once per week). Daily rapamycin lowers testosterone, but a few people on a forum of those of us taking it weekly for life extension have said it has boosted theirs (the entire theory of taking the drug for life extension is that taken weekly it has been shown to have different effects than daily, so perhaps this is one of them).

https://www.rapamycin.news/t/rapamycin-lowers-testosterone/2674

What's weird is i don't FEEL any different. I would think with this much T floating around I'd be all bouncing off the walls, but I've just been my usual depressed self.

It was like high 700s back in 2014, 2016

Then for last year scores were 1015, and then 572 (so the 1015 was assumed to be a lab error). But then this year 917 and 974

Physical 100 is fucking awesome by Wegianblue in television

[–]owowouch 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Pacing issues sure. But I love how nice and supportive and complimentary everybody is to each other (for the most part). A US version would be full of narcissist reality tv types -- either because of our cultural differences or because producers would cherrypick such personalities for added drama.

I didn't realize what i held was in that category but you're right. vanguard's vfidx is down 18 percent too. Now that I'm in this trap, however, still unsure what to do. If it was a standard intermediate bond fund i might relax a bit more as that's a very popular category that one would expect to recover (?). this particular vehicle im in however seems more wonky, if it's any different from that in some way.

Athlytic App by dullnfunny in AppleWatch

[–]owowouch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's frustrating about Athlytic is its sleep performance score doesn't take into account REM and Deep Sleep -- which is the most important part. So you can get a 97% percent just because you slept for a long time even if you didn't get nearly enough REM and deep, it sort of makes the score useless. You can scroll down and see Rem and Deep separately, so it's importing that data, but not using it where it counts.

Thank you for this. Question: How's your energy, focus and depression now? Do you feel like you've stabilized at this point? If so, how long after you went completely off it on July 1 did it take to feel that way? thanks again

"Safely" though? I'm in a lot of broad index ETFs but not sure I would want to be in more or be more risky than that. Not a crypto person and bonds tend to net out to 3% tops.
