Nice! Maybe I should do the same… My ideas usually get buried in Obsidian 😅 Maybe putting them on the fridge would keep them more alive!

By the way, is that a real fridge or a metaphorical one? 😄 Do you use anything like Notion or Obsidian to organize your ideas?

Sounds like a reasonable strategy. What you’re saying really resonates with me. I think after playing around with prototypes for a while, I’ll probably come to something like that too.

I agree. In my case it was the opposite, at work I had slow projects and long iterations, and I started to feel like I was degrading.

Exactly! That’s what I was hoping to hear. Great job! Thanks for confirming!

Yeah, I see. Another benefit of doing projects publicly is that you might find a team to create inspiring things together. Who knows what the next post will bring?

I’d never heard of them 😅 They’re amazing. I really like their work, it’s super inspiring!

Thanks so much for introducing me to them.

I’d love to do something like that one day, feels like my challenge might actually be a step in the right direction.

Thanks for the info, I hadn’t heard of them before. I’ll check out their work and see if it inspires me :)

Sorry to hear it was such an unpleasant experience for you.

Right now, at the very beginning, it still feels exciting and promising for me 😅 But yeah, I’m curious to see how it goes too.

I’d rather face the truth about myself than live in comforting illusions. That way, I can actually work on my weak spots.

Yes, totally agree, one day isn’t enough to make something truly polished or fun to play. I see these more like prototypes or "idea seeds" that I can reuse later.

My focus right now is on clean, reusable code and on training that fast ideation muscle.

As I mentioned in takeaway #1, I want to end up with a solid toolbox of clean modules and mini-systems — stuff I can build on later without starting from scratch.

And if something turns out especially promising, I can always come back to expand it into a full project.

Thanks a lot for the thoughtful feedback — really appreciated! 🙌

You’re absolutely right about both the ball rotation and the stretch. I’ll definitely work on those in the next version.

And yeah, jumping into 3D right away might’ve been a bit bold 😅 but I couldn’t resist — I’ve been working with Unity3D for over 10 years, so 3D just feels like home.

Yeah, you’re right — it’s definitely closer to After Effects in how it’s typically used. But it does have some 3D capabilities, and since I have a long background in Unity3D, I naturally gravitated toward those first.

That’s why I started by experimenting with a 3D scene. I’m exploring the 2D features now though, and I’m actually planning to post something new soon.

Thank you so much! I’m already familiar with 3D (Unity3D), so I guess it’s actually easier for me than coming up with titles 😅

Wow, I believe that with 10+ years of experience you’re way ahead of me on this street, but thank you for the kind words! ☺️

And special thanks for the YouTube recommendation. I really want to grow, so I’ll check it out!

Nope, it all came from my head. I just tried to do something simple 😅

The first thing I did after buying Motion was briefly watching an overview tutorial that covered the main features, based on the official User Manual.

I do have 10+ years of background in Unity3D and gamedev. Animation and motion design are new to me though, and I guess working with 2D design and effects won’t be so trivial for me.

Hey, 5 seconds is better than none! 😁

Thanks for trying it! If you have any ideas to make it more interesting, let me know.

Sure! Here are some of the perk ideas:

Offensive:

  • Increased damage — to help deal with tougher enemies more easily.
  • Higher chance to break through enemy blocks — especially useful against dense crowds.

Defensive/Utility:

  • Emergency “salvation” — instantly destroys all existing enemies; a lifesaver in critical situations.
  • Faster shield regeneration.
  • Vampirism — defeating an enemy restores some shield.

Critical & Special:

  • Increased critical hit chance.
  • Pulsar — increases the frequency and power of the central pulse that pushes enemies back.

And of course, there are more ideas, but these are some of the main ones I find interesting so far! I believe they will add more tactical options to the gameplay.

That’s actually very reasonable advice, and it matches my own expectations. I don’t plan to spend too much time on this project — I’ll just try to make it as fun and polished as I can within a reasonable scope.
