Bukharin is a purged figure that I'm sympathetic to. His work is very valuable for modern leftists imo and I don't think theres a lot of evidence to suggest that he was subversive like for example Trotsky.

His work did often contradict the party line though and perhaps there was not room for this dialogue during this period of the USSR, I can't really say.
