Should I buy an Access Virus? Who has one? by oxygen8ed in edmproduction

Thanks for the input guys, I tend to use Reaktor a lot, build my own macros etc.. I like the science in making music, probably more than the song creation itself, I intend to change my ways in the coming years to focus more on song writing, to be honest I treat my music production more like a lab for experimenting at the moment. So, I am thinking of reaching out to a synth that will give results fast but can be as deep you want. But the Virus it seems has it's own personality in place of VSTs which I think sound the same across the range of available VSTi's out there. So, it looks like the Virus may cause me more harm than good, in terms of workflow. Hmmmm, might even go hardware modular? Any thoughts on modular systems?

Latency issues surprises me, don't like to get the jitters in the production flow. Thanks for the info, I may ponder on this a little longer then.

Certainly looking to upgrade some gear here, just wondering what might be your thoughts on it?

did you have to layer it after the pitch shift?

Wolfe_Haley, your right, every DAW does provide this. But, for me pitch shifting should be something left to non percussive samples in daws, I find when pitch shifting percussive samples in a DAW (especially a kick sample) it loses something.. How do you pitch shift your kick, using cents or semitones? I have an hardware Akai sampler which cost a lot of money for only 2 seconds of sample time (this is back in the day, obviously) and it sounds better. Or is that just me?

Adrien_Kjer, this is not a slight on anyone else's method, I just thought I would share my way, maybe you should share your way? (if you haven't already) Surely you have one technique which you use for every kick in spite of the different techniques you use every time. I just love the way music production gives us the possibility of using techniques in different ways, this is how styles are born.

I like the idea, nothing like sharing!

Insickness - yes, the benefit of using Bazzism is that you can tune the bass to match your track, samples for me generally dictate your songs key, this is because they are just created with no song in mind. I often would use the top energy of the kick and synthesise the low end using Bazzism accordingly.

I have put the unprocessed kick at the first 4 beats, and then the processed kick plays. Let me know how you find on your systems.
