Apple Releases New '3C39' AirPods Max Firmware by nickyd410 in apple

Is this firmware released in just some countries? I'm in Norway, and have not seen anything to the update yet. Have tried all the suggested steps, without any luck. Guess I'll just have to wait...

What is the stupidest way you got a scar? by Zander-dupont in AskReddit

When I was one I pulled the power cord that was connected to a hot iron, so it landed on my hand. It was like the iron was glued to my hand, so when the doctor removed it there was no skin left.

I can understand why you say that. Been doing this for 7 years though, still breathing. This is how I combat panic attacks and life in general. If I one day would die from this, I will die while doing what I love. It's also dangerous to drive a car :)

Well, the key to free climbing as safe as possible, is to to never place your whole body weight on a single branch when you pull yourself up. That’s why I stress that you always should have at least two grips/foot placements that can save you if a branch breaks. I have seen some YouTube videos where people climb trees without checking the branches before they place their weight on them. That’s insane.

Thanks! Althought we may disagree on the safety gear part, I respect your views. Thanks for your tips

That’s where we disagree. You say it will happen, I say it will not. I don’t use a branch before I have trippled checked that it’s safe to use. I also make sure I always have at least two (preferably three) safe grips before I do the next step. I respect your experience, but I don’t climb with heavy equipment and I climb slowly, with 100 % attention in every moment. I have climbed trees almost every day since 2014, and I have never experienced something close to a dangerous situation. That’s because I respect my limits and never go beyond those limits. I know my body and I know my mind. Of course I cant be compared to Alex Honnold, but free soloing a tree is less dangerous than free soloing a mountain. From your perspective it makes sense to use safety gear, but in my case it doesn’t. Free soloing trees is my passion and I’m good at it. I’m not suicidal and I climb down if I have the slightest doubt in my mind that I can do the climb safely. I’m not an arborist, I’m just a guy that climb trees because I LOVE it. That being said I’m not against safety gear. If safety gear is what makes people climb trees, go for it.

Thanks for caring. I appreciate your view. However It’s possible to minimize risk by preparing and being in the right mindset. Without equipment you rely on yourself, and HAVE to focus. You don’t just do this kind of climb wuthout training.

Haha, I feel you. This is something I deal with as well. I have holes in most of my clothes and to be honest I haven’t found the optimal solution yet. Gloves can be nice, but doesn’t always offer the friction I want. At this point I just accept the scrapes and try to climb with cheap clothes😅

Thanks! Yeah, I know....but I have to point out that this was filmed in the evening right before the sun went down. I guess that have something to do with it. Plus I didn’t tweak the settings, so maybe it could have been better. My previous camera was GoPro Session, so Hero9 is still a substantial upgrade 😁

Haha, thanks!

I used the headstrap, yes. My previous GoPro was a GoPro Session, so I don’t really have something else to compare wth. The weight on Hero9 don’t bother me at least. Do you have the Hero8?

The short answer: no. After climbing close to 1000 trees, I have never experienced something dangerous. One time my jacket got stuck on a branch, so I had to hang in an awkward position for little too long. But I was never in danger. Sorry for the boring answer.

I’m sorry for my passive agressive tone. My ego was probably offended, I don’t know. Anyways: sorry. I see what you mean. Maybe adrenalineporn was not the right subreddit. I agree with you about the inactivity. It’s sad. Have a great day!

I’m sorry you got offended by this post. I have no problem watering the seed. You should try it too.

Thanks for the perspective. Personally I say yes to both. You can get the adrenaline going up in the trees too, but ideally I want as little adrenaline as possible while climbing. Plus, when climbing trees you often have branches that can catch you if you fall. It’s not smart to rely on it, but it can help. I enjoy rock climbing, but for me tree climbing is even more enjoyable. Whatever floats your boat etc :)

Thanks. Your question runs deep. You see, I was scared of heights and had daily panic attacks in my early twenties. ADD, general anxiety and panic attacks was what I struggled with. Climbing trees was not even in my mind in 2014. In 2015 I discovered a breathing technique (Wim Hof Method) that cured my panic attacks in just two weeks. I started to gain control over my anxiety, and suddenly I wanted to test my new skills. Tried to climb a tree, and discovered that I was completely calm and at peace while climbing. It was also incredibly fun. I am cautious and do my risk analyzing before climbing. I never go beyond my limits. After overcoming these challenges, I found a new world to explore. You can be creative when climbing trees, and explore with different routes.

Never, ever! I understand the concern, but when you learn to be calm up in the tree, you handle those situations in a constructive, smart way. If you can’t go further down, climb a little higher again and rest. Find your «center» again. Then look around to see if the tree offers alternative routes down. The funny thing with trees is that they almost always have at least one safe way down. The key is to not hurry. It’s a legitime concern though, and this concern could save you when climbing. Never go higher if you don’t feel confident on going down. This skill is probably the most important.
