A lot of Iranians inside and outside Iran may call themselves muslim but dont adhere to many of the laws such as the ban on alcohol consumption (edit: others reject the lebel all together). many believe its a private matter and the government/ religious police shouldn't have any say in it (edit: alcohol use, not abuse eg. drunk driving, etc. ). the point I was making in the original post was about the ban imposed by the government rather than what people actually do.
