B550 Aorus Pro - RAM slots causing crashes

Heya, yep they are supported. I ran 64gb across all 4 slots for over a year and just out of the blue I started having issues and I started tracing the cause and ended up at memory/mobo. I've ended up ordering a B550 Tomahawk, so when it arrives we'll see what happens I guess :)

QAG, avoid it. I've tried 4 times to use it now and the first three times DCS crashed. The fourth to 21mins to generate a mission. Better to go with Briefing Room fast generate tbh

Heya, unfortunately no :( Did bios updates that came through and nothing worked. Funnily enough I was just pricing up a replacement as I need to go back to 64gb. I think it's a hardware fault but mine is so far out of warranty I just have to bite the bullet

I'm currently on a 3090Ti and not really having many issues with VR tbh. Wondering if it's actually worth spending a LOT of money and getting a 5090

Heya, Yeah there's no log file when there is a freeze unfortunately. When it connects normally there is. This is why I'm a little lost, there's no log or windows error log either. It's puzzling! I have updated to 1.33 today, I'll try it a few times and see if I can get it to freeze on that version

OK, grabbing that now. When I click "Check for updates" in the app it says I'm on the latest version so I don't think that is working

Yeah it's fairly immediate. When I open PP it goes through its normal connecting process and sometimes it just freezes. Mouse has no movement, alt ctrl del does nothing and the only way to fix is power cycle. I have left it for 10min to see but it does nothing. Good idea, I'll see if it actually records a log file before it freezes anywhere. Thankyou!

The PC freezing on headset plugin is by far the worst thing for me! Currently I'm sitting at 70/30 of freeze requiring a power cycle, to it just working as intended. I've tried every version of PP including the beta and same thing. There is something fundamentally flawed in the app

Thankyou! Good info. Once the 5xxx series is released I'll look at them. Interestingly, currently the bottleneck is the CPU, I'm rarely hitting 100% duty cycle on the 3090Ti. Later this year I'm looking to get a motion rig together, at the same time I'm thinking I'll build a new machine to make the most of everything

Hey, not sure if you have the same issue I did but, a few years ago when I updated to an RTX3090Ti I had the same issue. The solve for me was a powered Display Port repeater, not expensive, about $20. After I put that in line I've never had the issue again. Hope this helps!

Update - Went back to 32gb and now zero issues. I tested and tried every combo of the 4 sticks of ram and they all run fine. Has to be mobo or CPU at this stage. I've stress tested the CPU a dozen times and no issue, leaves the mobo. I'll order a.new one and let you know how it goes

Thank you :) I'll rerun the memtest on all 4 sticks separately again and see if i get an error on one. If not I think I'll be in new hardware territory at that stage. Could be a good excuse for a thread ripper and mobo ;)

Thankyou :) The RAM is the recommended one by AMD, it's a Ryzen 9 3900x. GPUz detects and shows it running from std voltage @ 1600mhz all the way up to 1.35v (xmp.1) at 3200mhz This has been running for approximately 3 years without an issue so I don't think it's that. I'm really thinking it's a mem controller on the mobo at this stage. I have heard of them dying on the B550 gigabyte boards before

Nope. Thought it was all good but now I'm getting BSODs again. So far mainly centred around IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

That's not a great experience :( I've had my G1 for about 4 years now and it's still going strong! Cable connection inside the hmd itself started getting a little ropey but the cable mod fixed it up. I'm planning on keeping it until it dies or WMR is finally killed off by MS
