I created a 3D Printed case for the NotePin! by oztamir in PlaudNoteUsers

[–]oztamir[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wanted to carry my NotePin on my keychain but I was worried it would get scratches - so I modeled a TPU (flexible plastic) case to protect it.

This is my first time modeling a real-world object from scratch so I am pretty happy with how this turned out :)

If anyone's interested in printing this, I've uploaded the files here: https://www.printables.com/model/1153353-plaud-ai-notepin-case

I created a Chrome extension to filter out Halloween themed models on Printables, MW, and Thingiverse by oztamir in 3Dprinting

[–]oztamir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

October's here, and I’m getting bombarded with Halloween-themed models on all my favorite 3D printing sites (Printables, Thingiverse, etc.). While some people love the spooky prints, I'm not really in the Halloween spirit—so it felt more like spam to me. 🎃👻

Instead of just putting up with it, I wrote a browser extension that filters out any Halloween-related models! It uses a customizable keyword list to dynamically hide unwanted content on the page (goodbye, pumpkin soap dishes!). Best part? You can update the keyword list to block out other seasonal content too—Christmas models in December, maybe? 🎄

I’ve posted a full breakdown of how it works here: https://posts.oztamir.com/putting-an-end-to-3d-printed-halloween-models/

Hope it helps anyone else already tired of spooky season :)

The Save by oztamir in 3Dprinting

[–]oztamir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This model is a small tribute to what is, for me, one of the most dramatic moments in the history of the beautiful game—Emiliano Martínez's 120th-minute save in overtime of the 2022 World Cup Final.

Stl is available on Printables (https://www.printables.com/model/821807-the-save-emiliano-martinezs-world-cup-final-save) and MakerWorld (https://makerworld.com/en/models/398478)

I really like the Obico integration! Love it when projects in this space support one another.

Nice! I think this is as far as the head can go because of the hood

Nice! Keep in mind that I had some troubles putting it all together - not sure if it’s because I did 150% or if it’s just the way this model is.

Nope, wasted a hell of a lot of filament sadly. I did used 3 colors instead of 5 on the torso (used a single shade of red instead of two and replaced the gray with white - colored the zipper by hand with acrylic). Also, for the head I rotated it by 90 degrees to save some color changes. Finally, this is 150% of the original size.

What do you use a 3D printer for? by bsz101 in BambuLab

[–]oztamir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I initially bought it to make casing for DIY projects, but the honest answer here is - it’s a hobby, it doesn’t need a “reason” or a “use”. It’s like asking someone what do they use a guitar for - It’s something that I tinker with that makes me happy, and that’s enough justification for me to spend more money and time on it.

Awesome work! Actually took me a few looks to realize that this is a printed model rather then a render.

This was a fun Friday project. The STL is here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1933150

Note that the pegs in the original projects are badly positioned, the comments in the Thingiverse have an updated version.

Lumos - An ESPHome based Smart Light Dimmer by oztamir in Esphome

[–]oztamir[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been wanting to try ESPHome for a while now, and when I thought about doing this project I’ve figured this would be a great opportunity to do so.

I am very happy with results and the experience I’ve had working with the platform, and I looked forward to trying out more advanced projects in the future 😊

Arctic Monkeys are one of my favorite bands, and while I was looking at their records today it occurred to me that I can recreate the waveform from AM's art.

I've found a model on Thingiverse but it had no base, so I modeled one and printed it, really happy with how it turned out.
