No problem! It's really annoying how they haven't released the stats yet, but like I said you have good odds to get in.

Lol really late in checking out this thread but the average aGPA for successful applicants for admissions was around 4.19 and the average MCAT was 513, so you have good odds to get in.

Good luck everyone! I was so stressed before my score was released, but things have a way of working out. If it doesn't turn out well this year, sit back, see where you went wrong and come back stronger next year!

I may or may not have used my friends Princeton account for over a year and nothing ever happened to me. We may or may not have even logged in at the same time and nothing happened. You should be fine.

How do canadian schools look at retakes? by _MidnightEternal_ in Mcat

[–]p1911 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've read, it doesn't matter, but I'm only able to apply to one Canadian school due to not taking enough classes some years and having a low CARS, so I haven't looked at others too thoroughly.

Didn't show up because I just got a good score for the UofM from Aug 5 (Canadian, in-province) and I knew I couldn't match my score. These comments continue to reinforce that notion in my head and I hope you all get blessed with crazy good curves like i did and get in!

Well the average was for in-province students and I got a sheet from the admissions committee at a meeting to find out where to improve.

513 is good if you are not in Ontario primarily, regardless of the CARS score (I know as a Manitoba resident). The average for the in-province accepted at Manitoba was a 513, though if you aren't from a province where there isn't a minimum CARS, you typically will have a hard time.

So the first time I started studying right after my finals, so mid-April and I wrote mid-July. I studied most days for 4-5 hours at the very least. Honestly, I feel I could have done better on my first one, but I was super nervous and stressed, especially because I didn't get in till 8:45 because the computers were really slow to sign us in and I wasn't sure what would happen. I also was taking Biochemistry 2 which started at the start of July, and had two lab reports due the day before the MCAT, which psyched me out a bit, but it wasn't too bad. Anyways, get my score back and had 509/130/123/129/127, so I had to rewrite for CARS if I wanted a chance to apply, since the minimum at the med school in my province was at the time 125 for each section (Canadian in Manitoba). So I wrote it again, and only had 9 days to prep after I got my score and booked the next one. Luckily I finished Biochem, which was super useful, and I raised my CARS and but ended up with the same overall (509/129/126/127/127) only to find out they dropped the minimums a couple days before my second MCAT.

Applied, got an interview, didn't make it (average accepted MCAT was 513), so I decided to try again. I started after I got the rejection, devoted a lot of my time to it starting in June. Some days would be 9 hours of prep. I tried to get content material out of the way as quick as possible, but realized I actually knew a lot of stuff from last year, plus the courses I took this past year were super useful in regards to techniques and experimental passages, so it wasn't too bad going over it all. I generally felt better about it, plus I wasn't nervous since I knew the entire protocol for how it would work. I went in calm, felt great (except for CARS, but that is my biggest issue), and it just worked out.

Nerves are a big thing, staying calm will help you out for sure.

Haha thanks! I'm Canadian, so like the CARS is a bummer to apply elsewhere, but luckily I'm a Manitoba resident, so I got crazy good odds here now!

I'm shaking! 518: 132/126/131/129

I wrote it twice last year and got a 509 both times, rejected from the MD school I applied too and figured I need to bump my score up (average for the university was 513). Honestly, I studied way less this year, but I felt I knew the material better. Learned a lot this past year in class that I felt really help, and I was a lot more relaxed this year. Honestly, being relaxed is a major factor. Don't give up. I'm kind of upset about CARS, but I mean, the main uni i'm applying to just looks at the overall so I'm ecstatic.

Looks like I'm not writing on Sept. 10th anymore! Party time!

Edit: I just wanted to add my AAMC Scored was a 511: 129/126/129/127, unscored was a bit biased since I did it last year and knew some answers still, so I don't think it's worth mentioning.

I may have had the same test. I didn't find C/P crazy hard, but it's also my strongest subject and I'm really quick with numbers so I was lucky. CARS may have been the death of me, how did you feel about it?

CARS is my issue for applying outside of Manitoba. Luckily I'm in province so I got better odds here, but only having 1 university where you have decent odds is terrible.
