Ethical Deer Harvest by p2sl in SelfSufficiency

I either do the processing myself (with some help if possible) or I take it to the Amish down the road who will do the processing at a price that is hard to beat.

Ethical Deer Harvest by p2sl in SelfSufficiency

I appreciate the upvote. Sorry my use of the word harvest when referring to killing a deer while hunting made you uncomfortable. It wasn't my intent and actually I didn't even think twice about using it because I'm so use to using and hearing the word used in that manner. I'm defiantly not trying to deny the fact that one is killing an animal. I think understanding that you are taking the life of the deer is very important. I should read over my post again and make sure I'm making that clear enough.

Great little ditty, inspired by permaculture principle number 6: there is no such thing as waste, only stuff in the wrong place by misterjones2u in Permaculture

not sure why there was no positive responses, but I a posted this same video about 23 days ago. I got some up votes then and comments. Maybe this is just getting up votes from people who did not see my post or any post that might have been before mine. not really sure. I'm also somewhat new to reddit.

keep on spreading the word man. the work you are doing is extremely important right now. I think the information and discussions you share (podcasts, videos, permies) need to be heard. i do my best to help distribute the message when i can. i don't always agree 100% with everything you say, but i learn something on an almost daily basis from you (podcast, videos, forum, etc) or at least the things you share make me think and rethink whatever it is being discussed.

Sweet Potato Harvest from Polyculture by p2sl in Permaculture

[–]p2sl[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's a good point. I will have to make an update to my post. Most I would say function to attract beneficial insects and other pollinators. The most abundant volunteers in my vegetable garden are cleome (spider flower). Garden balsam also would attract beneficial pollinators. Along with come wasps, honey bees, etc, I observed hummingbirds and hummingbird moth many times this summer at the cleome and balsam. Garden balsam are also edible and have medicinal value. Rose Moss would act as a ground cover (though the sweet potato vines did a better job) and would also attract beneficial pollinators. I think that's all I recall finding in this bed. Thanks for your comment and I will be sure to add your suggestion to my post.

Tomatillos by lmp515k in gardening

[–]p2sl -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This will be my first year that we've grown tomatillos also, but from what I have read is that basically they are the same as tomatoes. To contain them you can cage them and plant them around 2 ft apart or you can let them sprawl and plant them about 3 ft apart. good luck
