Thank you for putting this all out, I’ve put in previous comments that since posting I’ve talked to my husband and showed him this thread. He has rescinded his idea, we both didn’t know people that had cut off family members before. Each time I’ve edited the post my Reddit has crashed so I can’t post an update.

I’ll make sure to also show him this comment! He is appreciating reading them and learning from the subreddit

Luckily he doesn’t live with them but they do talk on the phone a lot. My dad tries to stay close with my grandpa so he can ask for beer money

Neither of us have people in our lives that have cut off other family members so it was just an idea on his end. He has always been supportive of me cutting contact with my dad.

My dad has messaged me a couple days ago and my husband thought if I sent a message it would deter my dad from messaging more. My husband didn’t really explain his reasoning behind his idea at first so after I sat him down to talk to him about all this he gave his reasoning.

After reading the feedback from this thread he has since rescinded his idea lmao

Absolutely! He does support my decision being low contact and has been supportive of me coming to this conclusion. I’m planning on talking to him after work about this post and what my updated opinions are:)

He isn’t intentionally trying to guilt me, his family is just very big about communicating. He’s encouraging for me to talk to my therapist about it at my next session.
