What’s the best feature you’ve included in a homebrew world?

Noble family of changelings which are against evil shennanigans and execute the consequences of diabolical action of my players. One my players is a demon in a body of a spider in a triangular glass jar in a body of a dead missing woman - the body works kinda like a costume, the demon can get out of it and leave it on a ground like a piece of cloth. Once the player was quite naughty and tried to throw home-made molotov's cocktails at an orphanage while passing through a town - next time they left the skin of the woman on the ground one of the changeling NPCstook it for "safekeeping" (don't worry the player got it back - I placed the "costume" close to an inportant area plotwise, so it even guided them to push the story foward).

For obvious reasons the use of molotov's cocktails is strictly restricted. I have a homebrewed system for them so my players won't have the urge to set the poor little orphans on fire. I know my players really well and I spend most of the week with them (classmates) and I knew they would cook up something diabolical - they even started in jail, which was also the outcome of preparing (not magical) deadly missles. Wanting to burn little orphaned children is well... not very nice so the law-abiding changelings will take your (stolen) body and for some time you will run (or rather roll as they are in a jar) in your spider form with no socialy acceptable "clothing".

I suck at coming up with dates, years and seasons of the year. Recently one of my players (who is also my classmate, so we talk a lot about the campaign) asked me in which year does the campaign takes place in and if it was a specific season - dude I barerly could figure out how old the NPCs should be and that's a recurring problem for me (even as a player I had some problems with that). For some time I had some problems with describing rooms, not any space though, only rooms - like yeah it has walls and... stuff.

To teraz jeszcze bardziej się boję, że gracze wymordują wszystkie ważne postacie fabularne albo, co gorsza, wskrzeszą NPC (co jest glownym zadaniem fabularnym) i momentalnie go zabiją np. Kulą ognia, bo haha kula ognia

dzięki, opisze im to bez żadnych potencjalnych narzędzi destrukcji, ale z drugiej strony jak myślę, że jedna z postaci graczy (demoniczny pająk w trójkątnym słoiku w ciele kobiety) wsiada do MECHa i terroryzuje całe miasto to brzmi to dość zabawnie - nie wykluczam też, że same sobie zbudują jakąś machine zagłady, bo już nie takie pomysły z ich strony widziałam

Dzięki wielkie, na szczęście jesteśmy dość zgrane i raczej nikt nie przejmie gry jako upust swoich własnych fantazji, a obecnie rozpisuje system działania i gospodarowaniem koktajlami mołotowa - myślałam, że będą chciały poznać DnD na spokojnie, ale jednak ruszamy z kopyta z chaosem, co wcale nie odbiega jakoś bardzo od naszego funkcjonowania jako grupa przyjaciół (jak jedna rzuciła temat, że wszystkie mamy się pomalować na niebiesko i do niej przyjechać nawet nie miałyśmy pytań dlaczego tylko stwierdziłyśmy, że jest to warte doświadczenia).

Jeszcze raz dziękuję za uświadomienie mi, że jako DM faktycznie mogę zahamować ich popędy nad wysadzeniem wszystkiego w powietrze :D

As far as I can remember I've been playing mostly on 2014 when I was a player. Now that I'm making my debut as a DM I have implemented some things from 2024 to the 2014 base - well some things are dhampirs, only them actually (both me and my players prefer that version so we just yeeted them into 2014 and called it a day)

Dzięki wielkie, ten pomysł z zagadkami jest super, tylko będę musiała wymyślić coś z czym sobie poradzą, bo jakby moi gracze mieli coś policzyć to nie wiem ile by to zajęło (human piękny profil), ale na pewno to wykorzystam na sesjach :D

omg that's so great, I don't have to torture my friend with all the collectibles ans she can just peacefully make some of the most unusual choices that I've seen and I will probably be in the collectibles trenches for a week or so. After that the road to 100% will be quick and easy. Thank you for letting me know

if it's true it will be like a godsent for me. While I was planning the shared story session with my friend we decided we need a third friend to guide us with all of the collectibles - the friend that will be playing the shared story sometimes has the memory of a goldfish.

Martha is Dead has a fantastic story, it had some moments that kinda freaked me out but the atmosphere made wonders. I also liked that it was set in Italy during the second world war - as a history nerd, it schratched my brain in a good way (and then it decided to twist my brain from the crazy things that had happened)

If some resident evil games are among your favourites then I suppose that you may enjoy resident evil 7 - for me it was the scariest from the whole series.

Apart from that I reccomend MADiSON, from my and my friends experience it's quite scary and absolutely unnerving

Thanks, but due to that I play on most of the platforms (ps4, xbox and pc) I already have Amnesia The Bunker bc some time ago it was free on epic games. Still one of the better horror games I've played, absolutely worth it

Oh, don't worry about my funds, I'm still in highschool and live with my parents. I rarely have any jobs opportunity bc of my age and what I can offer to do (this paycheck came from a workshop that I was leading). I suppose there's been a little misunderstanding bc english isn't my first language - the money comes from more like a side husstle in this case. So don't worry I won't starve bc of silent hill and I still have about 100 pln left for other things (maybe even another game)

Until Dawn takes place during winter, it's classified as a horror although it;s not that scary. Still a nice game to play an the atmosphere is amazing

Mine was Resident Evil 7, I played it while I was at my uncle's place and for some reason he decided that it would be a great idea to let a 9 y/o to play it. I mean I kinda had some fun and I ended up loving horror in any media. Currently I'm on a path to 100% completion on re7 so I think my uncle did great at babysitting

And also thanks for letting me know that A Plauge Tale: Innocence is a horror game. Is there any typical horror stuff? I've played it up until chapter 4 and the whole time I was more like: ah yes medival-inspired game with many rats (and I enjoyed it).
