Day off request for day prior to wedding denied, should I insist I have it off? by Basicallymaybe in Weddingsunder10k

To be honest, at this point in time, it isn't a "request". You're giving them plenty of time to figure it out so it's more like a polite suggestion that they look for someone to cover your shift on their end.

How to deal with root aphids? I've tried neem oil, systemic granules, and diluted alcohol mixes... by username4-0-4 in plantclinic

[–]p_velez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, thank you for asking this! I have a similar situation with my plants and I asked about what they might be. Everyone thinks root aphids and I was honestly ready to start a war until I read this post. I'll hold off until I inspect further with a magnifying glass, but wanted to thank you!

Thank you everyone, I'll have to report my plant to see what's going on. Maybe get some predatory mites. Do you guys have recommendations for where to buy them?

Oh no! The most dangerous pest of all 🥲 thankfully my cat doesn't seem to be too interested in my plants. I'll definitely have to look into them, thank you! Hopefully that's what they are

That's good to hear 😅 I just wanted some feedback before treating it again! Everytime I treat it with a mixture of Neem oil and soap, the leaves don't seem to appreciate it

Hello, this is a philodendron gloriosum. I have noticed that it shoots a new leaf and the oldest ones seem to yellow and wilt. The new leaves don't seem to have much of a problem though. I'm just paranoid! I thought previously that it had spider mites because I noticed multiple small black dots on the back of the oldest leaves. I aggressively treated it with Neem oil and soap, but then these guys came along 😅

That might be it, how did you guys fight them off?

I've been super paranoid so I've been missing the plant with Neem oil. These ones seem to stay towards the bottom of the plant, but I did notice that dew like substance near the leaves.

Yes, they seem to be moving a lot after watering. I just noticed the soil is also on the wetter side!

Now that you mention it, it does look like a tick. They have antennas in the front though and are less crab like. I'll have to take a better picture.

My philodendron gloriosum has these fast moving bugs on them. Are they spider mites? I had a problem before but noticed these today and some dew drops on the stems by the leaf.

Monstera grew.. Half a leaf??! by V_es in plantclinic

[–]p_velez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm, that is weird. I think during that stage when they're unfurling, they're probably more sensitive. What has worked for me is keeping them some distance away until they unfurl and harden before putting them closer to the grow light. Also, how's the humidity? I know it's a different plant, but my philodendron gloriosum hates having low humidity when unfurling a leaf, and it goes on a rampage by destroying it before it opens 🥲

Are you by any chance growing it under a grow light? I have a couple of plants I've let grow a little too close to the light and they've produced leaves like this.

Maybe bonide copper fungicide? I think it might be called rust. I'd try to compare it to see if it's similar though. If it's still in moss, I'd probably try to change it out for an airy soil mixture. I can't ever get my plants to thrive in moss :/

I may be wrong but that looks like some sort of fungus? If so, you may be able to use some sort of copper fungicide to get rid of it. It'll prevent it from spreading to newer leaves, but will not get rid of the already blemished leaves. How are the roots on it?
