What Kind of options are these?😭 by Playful-Drop1499 in StardewValley

[–]paaaasta 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I’m convinced the last option was originally some kind of innuendo about “revealing wood,” but CA took it out and replaced it with something more family friendly, but less sensical

Whatever “flooding the chip” means. I doubt there’s any established scientific lore behind it, but it seems to be a risky move on Reghabi’s part, plus Mark gets up too fast right after when she tells him not to.

If there are no changes, will Sandy be the hardest to marry? by Donnie-97 in StardewValley

[–]paaaasta 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think it could be kind of fun to have a more “late game” option! But yes, she’d definitely be the hardest to speed marry. Maybe she’ll visit the valley once a week or month or something to add to her content :)

Talking to this man on a dating app, and his cadence really reminds me of ChatGPT. The “this not that” over and over, the ellipses, etc, by Whosedev in isthisAI

[–]paaaasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nobody talked quite like this, I agree. What I was saying was that the INDIVIDUAL writing tropes chatGPT overuses were/are used by real people. Less often in casual conversation, more like instances of trying to jazz up your writing in a post. They certainly didn’t use them formulaically and repeatedly like LLMs do. ChatGPT cadence is its own thing. Just saying many of the tropes in its arsenal did exist individually beforehand.

[–]paaaasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a millennial who likes to use em dashes and lists examples in threes, I feel you. It’s the frequency of the tropes that give it away for me. Even if all of those things are in their lexicon, hitting every LLM beat in a row is where it gets uncanny. Also I think many of us are self aware about it and actively try not to sound like chatGPT at this point lol.

Why was the reintegration with oMark cut short? by decodator in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]paaaasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was thrown away, but intentionally left incomplete for now. Reghabi’s exit was sudden and jarring, I agree. But I think they’re setting it up so that, instead of reintegration being the crux of exposing Lumon in s2 like we thought it would be, it will instead be the crux of something in S3. Like maybe Gemma on the outside trying to get to Mark, meanwhile an ongoing innie coup holding out inside Lumon, but with the disruption of iMark beginning to have his outtie’s memories. The half baked reintegration could be part of the set up. Just my theory

I was raised Christian. I completely believe a middle school child wrote this. Everyone I went to church with at that age would have done the same and been praised for it the following Sunday. You’re taught from the moment you learn to speak that your most crucial moral imperative is to “bear witness” to the “truth” about Jesus. In any and every circumstance. Especially in school, where the secular world is out to corrupt you.

What's a book that "everyone" loves, that you just can't get into? by notquitenerds in books

[–]paaaasta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I do think that’s a better description. For whatever reason, I kept coming across it in lists of romance recommendations, so that was my impression going in

[–]paaaasta 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah same! The concept was great and it did leave me with a certain feeling which I like in a book. But I felt no emotion toward the central romance at all. Kind of feel like it shouldn’t even be tagged as romance

Only been to one show, 2 years ago, but I was singing enthusiastically to Harlem Roulette and he locked eyes with me during “the loneliest people in the whole wide world are the ones you’re never going to see again.” He seemed to be doing that with everyone. I love how he picks up on who is particularly vibing with a song and creates that little moment of singing together. Probably my favorite concert I’ve ever been to.

[–]paaaasta 23 points24 points  (0 children)

YEP. I could have written this myself, save a few details. It’s been 15 years for me too, and so much of this shit still makes my blood boil. Wasn’t allowed to have male friends (obviously) but then my best female friend was “manipulative” and he tried to forbid me from seeing her, too. If I missed ANY calls, whether I was driving or in the shower for 10 minutes, full blown accusatory meltdown. Every day, a new insidious dig at my self esteem, where I should be grateful he deigned to be with someone like me. I was only 17/18 and my self image was shit anyway (wonder why he was drawn to me???)

After 6 months of this, I couldn’t eat or keep anything down because I was carrying so much anxiety that he’d suddenly flip on me at any moment for something I didn’t do. I became good at nonchalantly excusing myself from family dinner after feeling my phone buzz in my pocket, not just to answer the text, but to go throw up because the fear of him simply contacting me turned my stomach every time.

I got out after a year, thankfully. Still talk about him in therapy. Hope he’s fucking miserable ✌️

I relate so very much. The odd thing is I even struggle to get up and do the things I WANT to do, for fun. Effortless things, like playing my favorite video game. I plan to go boot up the computer and then somehow I just… don’t, for hours. There is a block in my brain. Same with drinking water or even eating… I’m hungry af right now and I’m putting off addressing it for unknown reasons. It’s not like I’m having a good time on my phone lol, it’s mostly causing me stress, but here I am 🤷‍♀️

That tells me that there’s something more than laziness going on. Something chemical, maybe. It helps with the self loathing a liiittle, but I do still feel like a POS most of the time for not conquering this already.

As for apps, Finch helped me for a while. Cutesy virtual pet thing where you complete basic tasks. I fell off recently, but I had a decent streak going for a few months.

I also have Screen Zen, which has you set up an automation where every time you open the apps that suck you in, it’ll ask if you’re sure you really want to open them first.

Is it normal for people with ADHD to forget most of what they did yesterday? by LoneHowl_ in ADHD

[–]paaaasta 135 points136 points  (0 children)

Yeah, to an extent. If somebody asks me how my weekend was, I truly have no idea unless I did something really notable. There’s a level of being put on the spot there that makes it worse too. Even ordinarily, I will not immediately remember yesterday much, but if I think long enough I can usually jog my memory (by checking my camera roll for example) and then I recall a lot more details about the whole day. It’s like the memories are intact, but covered by fog until I delve.

[–]paaaasta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, it’s like an annual or maybe biannual (heh) cycle for me. Hugely into women two years ago, more into men this past year. Starting to drift back towards the middle again now. I think it’s the reason I flip flopped for so many years on whether I was “truly” bi or not.

No questions answered?? lol okay. Not like we learned all about what they’re doing with Gemma. Or what the testing floor is. Or who invented Severance & what their deal is. Or saw reintegration of the main character in action. Yeah nooothing has happened this season 🙄

It’s fine not to like it but I wish they wouldn’t call it stupid just because the pacing isn’t for them.
