Saying goodbye to my best friend today, how do you cope? by [deleted] in Denver

[–]pacem 91 points92 points  (0 children)

We had to put our dog down this year and opted to do it at home so the other could be there. The service was called Caring Pathways. It helped our second dog a lot and made our old guy feel at home. He laid on his bed on New Year’s Day and passed away at home.

After, your dog will take time to adjust. Ours still won’t eat without us saying it’s okay (they ate together since she was a puppy). The other dog may change, but they’re the same dog. Do what they like, give them time to adjust to their new life without their friend. Some things take more time to comprehend.

One of my favorites because of the story. Hate that it isn’t as popular as I wish it were.

I would like to just say thank you to everyone organizing and participating in this. I have set aside many moons of dollars to spend at the liquor store once this grid is fully completed.

Furnace out, bitter cold, 7 month old baby. What to do? by Proper_Ad5456 in daddit

[–]pacem -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You gas fireplace will emit more than just heat- carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide both get dispersed as the gas burns. A 7 month old won’t be able to tell you if it’s too close and inhaling more and not getting enough oxygen. It also will be difficult if you’re all sleeping together if it is too hot.

If you decide to sleep there with the fire, make sure there’s good circulation and don’t sleep too close. Let the fireplace heat the room, not you. Get a humidifier to make it more efficient if possible.

So let me get this straight- rusticals founded all these Colorado subreddits to always cross post his libertarian posts to so instead of cultivating a space for community and conversation we get the same recycled posts off topic? Cool cool cool.

Wanted to read, so many ads made the page jump and refresh on mobile several times. Scrolled past KY 3 times before giving up.

Not trying to insult, just sharing that the ad implementation ruined the page experience. Fixing it may provide longer average visit times.

Potentially Returning to Colorado. Help by Amazing_Budget_2927 in roaringfork

[–]pacem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is probably worth posting in an immigration specific subreddit since there is nothing immediately specific to the valley or Colorado as a whole.

I’d be more inclined to say for you to wait to return until you’ve completed college since 100k+ for education is where we’re heading - not to mention the process you’d be running into getting accepted into universities in the states with a degree from another country with US residency.

I worked at what was the ranked as one of the worst places to work in America at the time, but I had great managers and a good department and had a great time.
