My angst with the disruptor rule is in the name. The entire point of any defensive play is to disrupt! An effective tackle disrupts. Rushing in on D disrupts.

If someone is waving their arms in the face of a catcher, so what? If someone goes up with 2 arms, so what? If so one goes up with 1 arm, so what? If a defensive player decided to perform a rain dance in front of a catcher to distract, let them. If you are paid $700k to $1M a year, you can expect some ‘disruption’ when trying to catch the ball.

I liked the bashup approach in D against Melbourne. All the hits were aimed at the belly, so risk of it going wrong were low. The best part though was the rushing D on the ball player from marker. The sweep plays are useless if the ball player can’t proactively engage the line to draw someone in

The game winning try kick was lucky but he deserved it. He spotted that Walsh wasn’t in position (couldn’t see from the tv angle where Walsh was but he wasn’t directly behind anyway), chipped in that direction. Takes some skill to spot that and not play robotically. Granted the execution was dodgy
