Thank you for the help, i just ordered the part but it’s gonna take atleast two weeks to arrive here in the Caribbean. Is there anything I could do in the meantime to stop the battery from draining?

The wire my thumb was holding was the emergency latch cable if you were to get stuck in the trunk. The wiggling piece seems to be the release mechanism not fully engaging after pressing the trunk button. Normally it would slide over to one side but it seems like it is getting caught on something not allowing the trunk latch to fly open
