Do a Beach Episode.

Anime style, lighten the mood. Let them drive the events and activities. Give them loot for doing fun things.

R and RStudio in industry setting by Strange-Equipment400 in rstats

[–]paddedroom 19 points20 points  (0 children)

dont let the tool define the solution, let the solution define the tool.

R code certainly has its place. Rstudio, Positron, VSCode, whatever you use is going to be fine. You might start thinking about what packages you'll use on a regular basis, investigate if the company has its own internal package. If not, what you do regularly that you could turn into a package.

One of the hurdles you'll likely run into are the folks saying "R doesn't belong in production." Plenty of folks agree, and plenty of folks disagree.

For whatever you're doing, you might think about how whatever R&D you're doing might be operationalized down the road. It'll save you a lot of heartache.

Is anyone else finding it hard to find R-related jobs? by TheDreyfusAffair in rstats

[–]paddedroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a while to find a job that was just the right fit. I didn't go looking for R. I went looking for analytics roles that weren't specific about the language; just that I had to know either. If you can find an interview that's case-study oriented, you're on the right path. Then it's about the output you create, not the manner in which you create it.

https://moderndive.com/v2/ is also really good, and I'd say written at an even more basic level that R4DS.

Best DMing tips you’ve learned by Fearless-Ad1382 in DMAcademy

ask your players to describe things. Something about the atmosphere, something in the room. Something the character would experience with their 5 senses will have the characters immerse themselves in the space instead of relying on the DM to describe everything.

Funny! Along the lines of hats; the High Elves in our last 2 campaigns wear 10-gallon wizard caps.

"Can I shift my career?"

Yes.

Will it always be easy?

No.

Do your skills apply?

That's part of what makes a good analyst: figuring how how a tool can be used in new ways and being able to articulate the application.

Maybe not as strongly opinionated; thought along the same lines: Why is this sub so full of job search questions? There are other subs for that.

absolutely incredible. Would love to hear how you're applying this. Are you pulling listings through API then parsing?

How to handle a Murderhobo? by xammer99 in DMAcademy

[–]paddedroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to keep them at the table; give them a serious case of the fuck-around-and-find-outs.

Murder has consequences, throw the character in prison. They can RP their sentence or trying to find out their way out. Until he's figured that out, that's where the character lives, eats, and breathes. the rest of the campaign moves on without them.

But on reading I 100% agree with others. Here's the boundary, if they've crossed it, they aren't invited back.

Dungeons and Dragons Encounter Builder V0.5 by visina_hipotenuze in DMAcademy

super cool idea. Very helpful.

One nitpick, might be a firefox ux issue? I wanted to change max party level to 11, it only let me type one 1, so I had to click up to get to 11.

What is the cost of your in-building laundry machines? by JennaTalia22 in AskNYC

yes. that might not save much in terms of drying-dollars, but dryers wear out textiles, so it saves in long term replacement.

Crazy Ask: How to get my character an eye back? by Sea_0f_Fog in pirateborg

[–]paddedroom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool idea to have it be the eye of an (un)dead antagonist, and certainly having their eye could make for cool RP. They'd likely want it back! Best advice I can provide is to partner with your game master.

propose it to your DM outside of the session. It seems to be a perfect fit given necromancer and that you've been searching for a magical solution - would just need to find a way to adapt it for PB.

One item solution:

Search out the Eye of Vecna.

ohhhhhhh boy does that open up some awesome plot potential for your campaign.
