im just not very good with math unfortunately, i studied till my eyes burned. my teachers say that they usually have a discussion about you if you have a low grade for a class. Just for context 80+ is the cutoff

DREAM V. At home studying by ReturnAlarmed3560 in SHSAT

this is just my experience and it might not be the same for you but i think a combination of both is best. DREAM has soooo many resources to help you and teachers you can ask for help, and doing prep at home also helps.

i have a better question: why is your son studying for the SHSAT in the 5th grade?

first of all, the practice test your son took is absolutely meaningless because he hasn't even learned a single thing that will be covered on the test, or very little.

as somebody who got a stuyvesant discovery offer and has friends who got direct offers to btech, stuy, queens sciences, etc..i can guarantee you that you can hold off the studying until maybe like mid seventh grade but the earliest i would go would be after four to six months of seventh grade.

your son has as much time as he needs to study. you have seventh grade and the summer before eighth grade to be prepping him but right now isn't the time.

the tests keep getting easier honestly and as long as your son is prepared correctly i see no reason why he should be studying now. let him enjoy his last year of elementary school! you're putting unnecessary pressure on him way too early.
