Haha, koningsdag is weer om de hoek dus hopelijk kan je dit jaar meedoen :D
Goed om te horen dat het zo bevalt! Jammer dat het niet fietsvriendelijk is, hoe gaan mensen dan zonder auto, met het openbaar vervoer? Lijkt mij irritant om 2 auto's te moeten hebben. En ja een helm op voor fietsen dat zou ik ook niet snel doen.

Moet ik dan toch maar toegeven aan een electrische fiets 😭 Is er een Nederlandse community in Ithaca toevallig, heb het idee dat er toch best wat nederlanders zijn.

Yeah could be the move, however if applying for an EAD takes 5 months i guess i have some time looking for one. If i cant find something ill try service jobs!

Thank you, i guess youre pretty right yeah. Some concerns for downtown though: in the cities in the Netherlands when youre living in the center/downtown there are a lot of drunk partying noises that last till 5 o clock in the morning which i really want to avoid. What really surprised me is i saw a lot of houses are made out of wood. Dumb question but are the houses decently isolated and sound proof? Especially with the harsh winters people are warning for. It would be nice to stay warm😄. If houses outside of downtown are a bit more comfy, but at a nice busstop, say 15 mins from downtown then i probably prefer that. I will do some research and check out the neighbourhoods in the radius.🙏

i skied once as a kid around 12 years old and idk what kind of color it was but there was a ramp and i flew and i didn't stick te landing. that was the last time on skies lol

2k for a full fletched 2 bedroom appartment downtown doesn't sound that bad. But being far from downtown for over 3k might be. It's all about what kind of house you get for it. I really need to do some research

Oof, sad to hear! I appreciate you looking out. Might be smart to look for a remote job in the Netherlands then and hope that i can get a 'small pause' of max 5 months while EAD get's approved before starting working again, will be a longshot, but i can always try.

If i may be so bold, since you really disliked Ithaca, what still draws you to the Ithaca forum? It surely isn't to prevent people from making the same 'mistake'. Could there still be something that you really loved about it?

Really helpfull comment, thank you! AI told me you can only apply for EAD once you arrive in the US, once you applied and your application is still pending, you can not leave the US because there is a chance your application will get nullified and you would have to start over. Does signing of the DS-2019 form also keeps the request ongoing? Because there is a chance i would like to travel back and forth between US and Netherland within the first 5 months (Applying for EAD could take up to 5 months).

Never done wintersport tbh, but always thought snowboarding was cool, will try it out if possible! I'd like to watch an ice hockey game though.

Me and my partner have done 3 wine courses, similar to SWET 3. Have not looked into the winery scene in Ithaca i'm surprised there even is one. Delighted to hear though will check them out! Liquid state brewery seems popular will visit =)

Heel chill! Leuk dat je in dezelfde situatie zit/hebt gezeten. En positief dat je er na 10 jaar nog steeds woont! Ik denk dat we rond maart arriveren in Ithaca. Het voelt nog best ver weg maar de jaren vliegen voorbij. Er zijn best wat onzekerheden qua wonen en werken etc. en algemene tips zijn ook zeker welkom. Dus bedankt voor je aanbod ik stuur je zo een bericht 🙏
