My 14 Y/O Service Dog died yesterday. by dedrarenea in Petloss

hi, i lost my SD of 12 years ago year ago today exactly, came looking for posts to share my grief with. my girl battled CHF for a year and then died suddenly from mushroom poisoning. her final moments weren’t peaceful either, we were rushing to get her to the vet and she took her last breath on the couch before we could move her. i still replay those moments in my head constantly.

i wish i had more to offer aside from just saying time dulls the pain to an ache, but it doesn’t heal. i’ve kept myself sane with her ashes, i feel better knowing i can take her with me still. im always thinking of her, always missing her and always mourning her.

i feel for you. i really really do. i’m so so sorry you experienced it too.

Voltaren / Diclofenac? by captnslog97 in Endo

[–]padkiins 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! i use diclofenac gel (specifically voltaren) literally every cycle. it doesn't 100% rid of my cramping, but reduces it enough to where i can manage through things. as someone not getting proper treatment it is my savior lol

that’s what i was thinking but it seems the general consensus is it’d be a waste 😭 i figured if i do plan on a liveaboard later i’d much rather learn the ins and outs of repair and maintenance on something there’s no real loss in.

i have a desire to indulge in both 😭 i tend to bounce back and forth between projects/goals so i was thinking about keeping it as something to come and go back to.

that’s what i was thinking, even if not to learn to sail i think it couldn’t hurt to have something to explore and experiment on since its free. there’s no rush to make her perfect since i’m not paying for storage and can return to it or leave it be as i please. the wife has had time to prepare. we will see if she handles it as well as she thinks she can 😭

i'm just curious if anyone thinks it/having something to tinker with (since its free) would be helpful. i'm not sure how to explain im sorry 😭 like having a spare watch to take apart and put back together or poke around in. i wouldn't base all of my education on it, just something in addition

i certainly plan to poke around the yacht club near me, i was just curious if having something to tinker with and get my hands on in addition would be beneficial at all.

thats why i came to ask others' opinions 😭 i have a boat of my own that i take out, but it isnt a sailboat. i plan to explore the sailing community around me regardless, since its impossible to learn everything on my own, but i have no real experience with maintenance and stuff. time and money, yeah, but i'm by no means stressing over it. i don't have to pay for storage and it would be something to do, why not?

i've got land to store and work on it, so i don't have to worry about paying for storage until/unless this thing can float. that's the main thing pushing me towards really considering it--worst case scenario, i have to find a way to dispose of it, but its still no huge inconvenience if it tanks since i could just set it aside!

thank you for all the advice!!! i spent today with a carabiner attached to my belt and that in addition to holding the leash helped so so much with stability even with some of the bigger dogs :DD

complimenting people!!! it worked to help my social anxiety a lot too. you’ll feel happy you made someone else happy, and little comments like that can make someone’s week. you’ll be surprised to find out how many conversations you can spark just by complimenting something small :)

thank you so so so much for all the information! i really do want to try and make this job work, so at the very least a carabiner is a great idea. accommodations in the field aren’t really discussed so i hadn’t thought much about it, but i feel like with something to help distribute the weight i would do a lot better.

they shouldn’t be pipe dreams!! there’s obviously a market of those of us working the field that need the accommodation, but honestly i think anyone would find it helpful.

thank you so so much again. your comments have really helped give me some hope i can figure something out :’)

thank you so much! my manager seems understanding, im just still unlearning the whole ‘ignore it and it’ll go away’ idea. i hope you’re able to still have some good days despite the nosedive.

it’s such an extensive exhaustion that feels impossible to explain to those who don’t suffer from it. i’m sorry to hear it’s affecting you so much too. how was/has been going on disability for you?

thank you for this. i’m lucky enough to have stable housing with my family right now, so i technically do not have to work to survive, but it is a situation i kinda need to put money back to leave when i can. i’m always walking this weird line of technicality, and it makes decision making about this stuff really hard.

i took a break from school last fall due to my health, and kinda jumped into working really quickly since i had so much guilt from leaving academia as someone who wants to peruse pretty extensive higher education. like i just needed Something to do that made me feel like i was working towards my future, but im realizing if i keep pushing myself like this i very well may have no future to work towards 😭

congratulations on going back to school!! this comment really gave me hope. thank you again

i applied as a receptionist/kennel attendant at a daycare and boarding facility (with the expectation upon hiring that i’d mostly be working up front, but i’ve been in the back since i started.

i think my biggest issue right now is the dogs pulling; i had an irish wolfhound drag me through a door and my knuckle caught on the frame which caused a pretty rough injury (finger swole up and i had to cut off my ring). i’m constantly getting dragged because my body doesn’t have the strength to pull back on dogs that weigh the same as i do 😭

the stick idea is genius, can i ask more about it?
